You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Pretty brazen act considering the last time they threw thousands around Memphis, they almost got shut down.

I wonder what blue chip recruit goes to that church?

If that had been Coach Chizik, we'd never ever hear the end of it.

Seriously, how does this not raise a single eyebrow? No one can tell us what his connection to this church is?

I'm sure anyone who questions this will be called heathens for suggesting that Saban can't just donate to this random church in a state he's never resided in because he's a fine upstanding Christian...

How is this not a story outside of that obscure link?

...or perhaps some choice hs coaches or handlers need stroking / start-up money to set up shop. Could be deflecting attention away from something else or maybe, just maybe there isn't anything sinister behind it at all.

From the link posted in the OP:

Quote
Rev. Colenzo Hubbard had some pretty good days in Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium in the early 1970s as a starting middle linebacker for legendary Crimson Tide coach Bear Bryant.

Quote
Saban and his wife, Terry, have a foundation called Nick's Kids Fund, a nonprofit organization that supports children, family, teacher and student causes. He and his wife started the foundation in 1995 when he became head coach at Michigan State, and have continued it through coaching stops at LSU, the Miami Dolphins of NFL and now Alabama.

The foundation is supported by fundraising events, donations, and profits from the sale of Saban's barbecue sauce and seasoning. Also, Saban has donated more than $100,000 he's earned from speaking engagements.

When Saban visited Memphis to speak with the local Alabama alumni chapter in May, he met with Hubbard and heard about the work being done at the Emmanuel Center, which focused on after-school education for underprivileged youth.

Off Topic...but speaking of uat spending $$$$ tRent apparently told some players at camp that he received around $250k for the signed memoralbilia at T-Town Menswear. I'm guessing that includes Greg Gamble's lithographs.

Wouldn't matter either way....tRent could have the bank statements with dates on them, show them to the SEC & NCAA people and nothing would come of it.
