NYC Suggestions
« on: June 30, 2008, 01:15:47 PM »
I'm headed up to the Big Apple on Thursday morning.  This is my first trip (other than just driving through) so I want to get as much in as possible.  Here's the current itinerary:

Thursday:
 - Arrive/check in hotel.
 - Going to Rockefeller Center/Top of the Rock, then taking the wife to 5th Ave, and then on to Central Park for drinking at the Boat House.
 - Dinner at Nobu

Friday:
 - Breakfast at Norma's
 - On to Times Square
 - Head to Yankee Stadium for tour and Red Sox/Yankees game
 - Pretty much open to do whatever after the game

Saturday:
 - Bout Tour (not really pumped up about this, but maybe they'll serve alcohol)
 - Check out Ground Zero, then a Greenwich Village - Soho - Little Italy - Chinatown bar hop.
 - Dinner at Ruby Foo's
 - Out to the bars

Sunday:
 - Check out at 11:00, but free until 7:00 pm.

Basically I need something cool to do on Friday and Sunday afternoons.  I know some of you slack-jawed sumbitches have never left your mamma's basement (I'm looking at you, BLS) but I'd appreciate any suggestions that anyone has.

There are some strip clubs.  Or you could have sex with your wife on one of those nights.

HA!  Last time I was in the city there was a nice one off Times Square.  40-foot poster of Jenna Loves Brianna over the door.  Clients included some rap and rock stars and a few other minor celebs.  I can't think of the name of it, though.

Did you hang out with Howard Stern?

I suggest a taxi ride through Harlem for a little cultural diversity.

Go to the top of the Empire State Building, that was kick ass. Take the ferry to Ellis Island and see the statue of Liberty.

Depending on your age, you might want to swing by a boutique on the Upper East Side called Blue Tree (http://bluetreenyc.com/).  Get out your iPod or boombox or whatever music-making device you have.  Put on The Cars "Moving in Stereo" and then walk into the shop.  Hopefully the owner will be there and you can close your eyes and imagine what used to be while the song plays.

Nah, that's not on Times Square. Could've been Flash Dancers. I was trashed enough there on Easter Sunday 2007 to drop a cool $2500 there on a Hungarian beauty named Renata who apparently talked me into giving her my cell phone number and email address because she proceeded to bug the shit out of me for the next 3 months wanting to move to Texas. Nothing like celebrating the resurrection like getting a little poonanny shoved in your face. Anyway... Brad... Flash Dancers... Times Square... great place. Eastern European and Russian chicks everywhere. Scores is pretty good, too. A lot of British chicks there which is hot. Don't bother with the Hustler Club, though. Scariest club I've ever been to.

For $2500 you better have gotten a nut and VD.  I've spent 1/10 of that and gotten the time of my life.

Of course, they charge based on looks, so you were probably fucked from the beginning.

Dude.  $2500 at a titty flop?   You wasted your goddam money.  Buy a fifth of booze and a hooker and save yourself $2250.

Taxi?  Try a late night stroll through Harlem.  That's the only way to experience it.

Two stops...
Club Macanudo and The Carnegie Club...

The Carnegie Club is definitely "old school".  We're talking '50s/'60sOn the weekends, they have a Frank Sinatra singer with a complete band.  Extremely classy!  You'll likely run into someone famous from past or present.  A few months ago, Pele was sitting at the table next to mine.
