If I plan to avoid every single movie being made out of one of my favorite books that involves piss poor casting, I may never get to go to the movies again.
Even if - EVEN IF - he was not such a shitty actor, there is NO FUCKING WAY he captures the Yat accent of N'awlins. And that is absolutely critical.
You cannot tell me that there is not some local NOLA actor available.
Fucking Hollywood.
I'm here to tell you you're all wrong.
First of all, Zach Galifinakis is hilarious. SECONDLY, Ignatious is the only character that doesn't really have to have the Yat accent. Now his mother? Yes, absolutely.
Ignatious is supposed to be eloquent and snobbishly annoyed by the ignorance of everyone around him. No one could pull that off better than Galifinakis. They prevously tried to make this movie with Belushi, John Candy, and Will Ferrell. Now
those would not have fit. Ignatious requires a certain dry wit that I can't think of any Hollywood actor who is better suited to pull it off.
