A Thibodaux football star was arrested for failing to appear in court, police said.

Trovon Reed, 21, a wide receiver for Auburn University entering his junior year, was arrested during a Thursday traffic stop by Thibodaux Police. Reed, 1511 Bell St., was freed from the Lafourche Parish jail after posting a $500 bond.

Reed, a former Thibodaux High football standout, was a passenger in the car stopped for a traffic violation. A routine computer check alerted police that Reed had two warrants for failing to appear in court in Terrebonne Parish.

It was not immediately clear what the original charges were, but police officials said they are from April 2011.

Efforts to reach Reed were unsuccessful, and a family member declined comment. Calls made to Auburn University's sports-information department were not returned.

As a receiver and kick returner, Reed completed his sophomore season at Auburn in 2011, finishing with 164 receiving yards on 21 catches in 10 games. He also returned eight punts for 42 yards.

Reed played in only one game as a freshman at Auburn in 2010 due to injuries. Reed was a member of Auburn's 2011 Bowl Championship Series national championship team.

He was one of the nation's highly recruited athletes as a quarterback out of Thibodaux High in 2010, participating in the Army All-American Bowl as a senior.

I'm not sure how much of this is sarcasm and how much we're really shitting all over this kid for charges stemming from a parking ticket. Where's the cocaine in this story? Where's the headbutting through a cop car window? I'm failing to see how this makes him a good for nothing thug that needs to be let go...

This is absolutely meaningless as far as football and Auburn etc. go. On a personal level....what a dumbass!!! That shit doesn't go away. I don't care if it's just parking tickets. If you decide to be sorry and ignore them, you will be arrested eventually. It's a parking ticket. Handle your business and mail in the $5.00 or whatever it is.
