There are plenty of teams interested in the services of Alabama star Trent Richardson, but the greatest rusher of them all doesn't get the appeal.

In a guest spot on ESPN Radio (via PFT), Jim Brown downplayed Richardson's game and lamented the NFL's move toward a more pass-happy culture.“I’m not overwhelmed with it,” Brown said of the prospect his former team, the Cleveland Browns, could select Richardson. “The problem is that he’s ordinary. I think he’s ordinary.”

What's ordinary about Richardson? "The size, the speed, his moves," he said.

Brown suggested that if Richardson couldn't start ahead of Saints running back Mark Ingram at Alabama (another guy that bores him), there's no reason to think he'll be a better player than Ingram in the pros.

Brown doesn't see many impact rushers at all in the modern NFL.

“When I watch football today I see a game of quarterbacks,” he said. “Protecting quarterbacks, throwing the ball, short passes, long passes, all kinds of passes.”

Brown might come off as a crank, but hey, it's Jim Brown. The man can say what he wants.

 Couldn't disagree with racist Jimmy more.  No, I don't like Trent Richardson.  Yes, I think if the truth came out, he'd bring Bama to it's knees with NCAA sanctions.  But, the guy is a beast and yes, he can run.  Greatest back evah?  No, not even close.  But the guy is a damn good running back.

This is something I can agree with. 

That bulldozing style only lasts for so long nowadays.  Too many guys on defense on steroids.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Trent get a concussion in year one.

I just love these arguments.  He can't run over people in the NFL.  The linebackers are just as big.  He'll get a concussion.  I guess 190 pound Chris Johnson never took a hit or two from an NFL LB.  Well, he doesn't run over people.  No...but Michael Turner does.  His teammate is 225 lb.  Jason Snelling.  He runs the same way.  So does 5'7" 208 lb. Maurice Jones Drew. Look, if a back can run, he can do it at any level.  1,600 + yards and 21 TD's in the SEC and built like the Incredible Hulk somewhat suggests that he might be able to himself.  And his running style isn't anywhere close to just running over people.  I hate the fucker but these arguments are simply because he played for the cousin grinders.  Yeah, he might get injured.  Is anyone in the NFL immune from that? The people who's only job it is to evaluate talent, watch him run, time his speed, test his strength...disgaree with you.
