By KURT VOIGT

AP Sports Writer

A person familiar with the decision says Arkansas is bringing back John L. Smith on an interim basis next year to replace Bobby Petrino.

Smith, who left the Razorbacks after last season to become the coach at Weber State, is returning on a one-year appointment, according to the person who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity because the school had not made its decision public.

Smith is also a former head coach at Michigan State and Louisville.

Petrino was fired April 10 after his affair with a woman he hired as his assistant was revealed by an April 1 motorcycle crash.

Apparently, Smith bailed on his alma mater Weber State, who had hired him as head coach 3 1/2 months ago.

Smith had just completed his staff three weeks ago.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Something Arky didn't learn from Petrino (literally and figuratively):

Most of the time if you are a mistress to a man, the man has had a mistress before you...and will have a mistress after you.

Don't know if anyone posted about this on here but it was reported that Petrino's motorcycle mama and Arky parted ways for less than $14K and an agreement for her not to try and profit from the situation in the future.

That being said, I doubt it.  I'm thinking more like a Wall Marks bag of cash and a wink.

John L Smith lost 8 of his last 9 games at Michigan State, only winning vs NW. Imagine getting an SEC HC job with that resume, even interim?

See what he did there?

I hope the real UA beats uat more than normal now.

Sacks of douche on WNSP evaluating likely wins and losses for Arky.

Alabama: LOSS. Emohatic  No question.

Auburn:  That's a W. Talent alone, easy W.

Fuck those clowns.  Is there really some enormous talent disparity between Arkansas and Auburn?  I don't see it.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."

No shit. Although, over the years this type of media exposure bodes well for Auburn. A case where a negative creates a positive.

JMHO, but this is a horrible move by Ark.  It appears to be an attempt to "keep the current staff in place" yet do it with a guy that is not an interim coach.  J. L. Smith was on the staff 2009-2011, and I guess they feel he'll keep things rolling right along.  This is the Ark. version of the Nallsminger experiment, but with the HC instead of the OC.

Ark. wasn't looking to divorce Petrino, but they wound up that way.  In a divorce it's simply best to move on, and make wholesale change even if you didn't want the divorce to start with.

How many idiot college fan bases are going to think that before they realize he could have had dozens of college jobs since he left NFL coaching, yet chooses not to take any?

In case he was being too subtle, he followed it up with this.

See, this is where a twitter battle takes place. Mentioning a BCSNC in Chiziks second year is a nice response.
