Yes.

No reputable (read: worth a shit professionally) coach will leave in the midst of spring practice to take a new job.

They have to promote from within to maintain team chemistry. Unfortunately, the obvious internal hire is Paul...Petrino. Probably not going to happen. So Arkansas really lost two coaches today.

They'll limp through the season and announce Gus Malzahn as the HC of the Hogs in December. Book it.

I'm guessing it will be an arrangement similar to the one when Jack Crowe was fired, Joe Kines took over and Danny Ford came in to "consult." Only it will be Taver Johnson with Butch Davis "consulting."

However, one of the voices in my head that I don't hear from very often, and is right about 75% of the time, is telling me that Barry Switzer and Larry Lacewell are getting the band back together.

If I were Arkansas, I'd shy away from Tuberville. He went away from the conservative offense/lockdown defense in 2008 and hasn't looked back.

I bet they let a guy on staff be the interim and then see where they're at next year. This is supposed to be a pretty good Arkansas team. No need to bring in a whole new system especially considering they won't have a spring practice to learn it.

2008 Defense was pretty damn good, considering the offense was so pathetic. Also, I think if Tubs were back in the SEC, he'd go back to his way. (That's a 2 edged sword BTDub) He's in a league now where nobody puts a premium on defense, and the school he's at wants to see offense.
