Reread my comments. I would never squeal with glee if every state allows it or every state banned it. I simply could not give a fuck because it doesn't affect me and I'm not in the business of telling other people what they can and cannot do as long as no one is affected by it.
Sort of like smoking pot too... right? The affects aren't always evident or overwhelmingly obvious. While I can appreciate your concept of liberty, it's the downstream and longer term affects to our society that concern me. It's easy to claim that the actions of others don't immediately affect or impact you, but sometimes, you do have to look a bit beyond the immediate moment and apply logic and reason to the situation and longer term consequences and risks.
As a relatively recent example of this, there are a number of states that do not currently recognize same sex marriages trying to figure out a way to process same sex divorces. Sure, the original homosexual marriage may not have immediately affected others, but now, tax dollars and other resources are being diverted to deal with something that these states didn't even approve or recognize in the first place. Maybe, it's just me, but I'd rather my government work on more important issues.
