UA Professors Are Tardy

When your professor was late during college, what was your rule about how long you'd stick around?

Fifteen-minute rule? Ten? Five? Come on, five? Really?

Of course, these are unwritten rules among students who might feel entitled to leave early if their instructor happens to be a little tardy. University of Alabama director of media relations Cathy Andreen recently told The Crimson White that, of course, the 15-minute rule is not official university policy.

In fact, she says if a professor is late, the student should wait to speak to the faculty member or discuss it with the department chair or dean, the report says.

Some students think a 15-minute rule should be implemented into UA's official policy, while others insist they'll continue to wait and study like diligent young pupils regardless of the professor's tardiness.

I have to be honest.  My professors at Auburn were rarely late.  I can only think of one time when a professor didn't show up to class, and it was because of an emergency.  Maybe I just lucked out.

The unwritten rule has always been 15 minutes for non-professors.  If it is an actual professor, there is no time limit.

Thats what we always used when I was at Auburn. That was 95-99. Of course I have to echo what THS said - I don't remember it happening in 4 years but maybe once.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether we broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with our female party guests - we did.

But you can't hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole fraternity system?

 And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our educational institutions in general?
