I know that Never to Yield Foundation blog touched on this, but you can't tell me if I'm a talented HS football player, or especially the parent of one, and I see the kind of insurance that goes with a commitment to Auburn (the perfect example being Shon Coleman) and contrast that with what's going on at Alabama, with Saban yanking scholarships out from under guys who were committed to them for over a year, two days before signing day and thereby completely fucking them, that it would not be a no-brainer to commit to Auburn given the choice between the two. Let's not even get into the fun, family-like, environment, where recruits and players constantly say the coaching staff are like fathers to them, compared to renowned complete asshole prick Saban that has these kids walking on eggshells like he's some kind of mob boss.
Fans of that school who have kids that are good enough to play ball are not gonna care. The thing about being a recruiter is being able to sell your school and team. They will come in and tell parents whatever they need to tell them. Most people won't see through it, especially if they are a fan of that school. Some schools are up front about everything and some will tell you whatever it takes to get your signature.
I was more getting to the fan base they have. 99% of them wouldn't care if Saban murdered someone as long as they are winning football games. Their self worth depends on it.
The media won't care either. Saban is an asshole, but unless he pulls something huge, ESPN, FoxSports, Yahoo Sports or the local media isn't going to give him shit for it b/c he is winning, his team is in the hunt and there huge fan base will be tuning in and reading all they can. It sells, and they are in the business of making money.
