Philon wasn't in a class of more than 25 until the last minute. He was screwed, plain and simple. If Saban wasn't 100% on him, he shouldn't have offered him. Excuse this all you want on the player, Mike Slive, the NCAA, whatever, but this was dirty. You can win just fine without doing this to 1-2 players a year.

Bammer went in to signing day with 28 listed verbals.  I'm not excusing anything.  Saban is rotten to the core.  Philon got screwed, but I can't see how kids, their family, their HS coach, or some mentor doesn't see this coming.  What makes you think I'm excusing it?

When the HS coach is also the "mentor" who just happened to play for the unahvasitee, the kid usually doesn't have a choice until it's too late.

Wasn't talking to you specifically about the excusing, just anyone who excuses it in general. When he committed (and was offered a scholarship by Saban that he is supposed to honor), they did NOT have 25 commits. He had nothing to worry about until the last minute. Then, its too late to go to a lot of schools that were interested.

I can tell you how it's "justified".  See, when you're a bammer commit, you shouldn't take any more visits, but if you do, it's cuz the other schools be trying to snake you, and the schools/coaches are bad.   But if a commit to another school comes to visit bammer, well, he's not really committed.  Simple stuff really. 

If you use bammer logic and rationalization, you could kill and cannibalize your entire family and make up a good reason justifying it.
