Is It Raining...

where you are? Watched the weather this morning and they said we could get some storms through our neck of the woods later on this afternoon. Okay...guess I'll break out the umbrella. Just got a call they're letting schools out at 11:00 a.m. due to the extreme weather headed our way. Normally, I'd just laugh and say what the hell is your problem, because the forecast really didn't sound that bad....but...after Enterpirise High School getting leveled and numerous students/teachers killed...the storms this past April changing the entire landscape of a chunk of the State....and the tornadoes that ripped central Alabama a new one just a few days ago...

maybe caution is the better choice. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the storm, unless I'm watching it from far off. A little thunderstorm to sleep to is fine. But, I spent 15 years with an insurance company going to all sorts of storm ravaged areas. Huntsvegas used to get frickin' hammered every year or two. You can watch reports of devastation all day on TV and really not get a true feel for what actually happens. Those of you who were in and around that stuff in April, and had the chance to walk through a house that no longer exists, understand the power those storms possess.

Raining here, and the Weather Channel app on my phone basically says the entire state is under a tornado watch all day.

You guys typically get what we do a day and a half later. Here, it dropped 4" of rain in a 36 hour span and had some tornados down between Dallas and Houston.

Lord knows we needed the rain though. I am very thankful for it!

Raining here in Athens/Huntsvegas. Supposed to get some flash flood warnings, but nothing for tornadoes.

Always be a little cautious. I have been through enough of them and their damage that it's make me antsy when it gets cloudy and thunder starts to boom.

Growing up I can remember 4 that hit somewhere on my parents farm. They never got the house, but destroyed barns, equipment, cattle and our neighbors places. We always got lucky. None were anywhere close to being as big as the one that went through Tanner last year. That shit was scary and to close for comfort.

Fuck the rain. The ground at my house is so rotten that I have to clear trees out of my damn driveway at least once a week.

My brother has been working in Huntsville since the April storms. He'd previously been out of work since the housing market crashed. An Auburn bud of his, that had been in a similar situation, called him, and they got lots of rebuilt/repair work since, but it had slowed down. Now he's up in the Centerpoint area with more work. He's thankful for the work at least. Says the pictures on TV don't do justice to the amount of damage up there.

It's been dry as a bone down here for quite some time. Not like Tejas, though. The pond in our neighborhood has become a little puddle. The last couple of weeks have made up for it. I just hate the bad stuff and this State has certainly seen it's share the last 2-3 years.

Snaggle it seems the little kiddies are getting outta school early. Must be some really loud thunder coming. Don't want to scare the little kiddies. I'll have to say though, when I lived in B'ham the damn tornado sirens went off about once a week. Here, the only time the sirens go off is for the weekly testing. Bunch of pussies around these parts.

It is raining so hard that I decided to drive to the YMCA to work out at lunch. Just walking the half-block from my spot to the building I was soaked. Had to catch up with my car as I left too...it was floating away.

Just quit raining here in Dallas and the sun is now out. We needed the rain bad. Some of the local lakes are almost a foot below normal. I am ready for some warmer temps. I really loathe the winter.
