Rumor Email Being Circulated By The Corndogs At Work

Subject: Lsu rumor

I just heard this from a friend with ties to the LSU athletic department. I am not sure if it is true or not but a lot of the pieces  fit. Apparently about 3 hours before the game T-Bob Hebert and Russell Shepard  and 2 other receivers and a hand full of linemen got into a heated argument with  Les M.iles  and the Offensive Coordinator about Lee getting more playing time and possibly starting the BCS Championship game. It got so heated that Miles benched T-Bob  and RS and 3 other players. He called Lee into his office and told Lee that he  would not be playing in the game. The Offensive CO told Miles that he thought  that Lee gave the team the best chance to win the game. Miles told the OC to  start looking for a new job after the game and Miles will be calling the plays  for the championship game.

Apparently the O Line sided with T-Bob and Lee and  did not give their all in the game to prove to Miles that the players are more  important then the coach. Now I know that this is hard to believe but when you look at some things it kind of explains a few things: I will list  some:  Playcalling: Read option pass on 3rd and 10 - 4 times. Running  the same 5 plays  over 90% of the game. Overall, Horrible play  calling. Running the ball in the  4th quarter with 9mins and down by  21. T-Bob Hebert not taking a snap in the  game. RS only playing 3  snaps and not touching the ball or getting looked at.  Lee getting off  the bus and walking 10 feet behind the team with his head down  and looking dejected while walking into the Dome. Heated argument between receivers and JJ and O Line with O line coach on sidelines. And the kicker, reports that 2/3 rds. of the plays that were practiced up to the game were not ran and the players were not told why. Again I do not know if this is entirely  true but there seems to be a lot of truth in it just by seeing what happened in  the game. "

On the one hand, corndogs are worse than Bammers at making excuses and claiming they were cheated.

On the other hand...I could see this being the case. There was definitely something not right with that team. You could read it on their faces.

That whole thing reeks of butt hurt bullshit.

There are so many holes in that reasoning.  First why all of a sudden would J. Lee be starting when Jefferson was the man since the bama game and had done a reasonable job including big comebacks over Ark and UGA.

We don't know any answers...but that never stops us from filling in the holes.

Maybe Jefferson had been terrible in practice and not taking the preparation seriously.  If the players felt like Lee was busting his ass trying to get ready and Jefferson was just prancing around preparing his "comeback" speech, they might have had some words with Miles about who they wanted on the field.

This is not the first I've heard about something happening before the game in the LSU locker room.

I'm more along these lines.  Now, it has been reported by several sources that there was in fact some kind of trouble in the locker room before the game.  But the players and OC saying Lee would give them the better chance makes no sense at all.  Jefferson came in and won the first game and carried them through the rest of the season.  For everyone to suddenly up and say Lee now gives us the best chance to win, when he basically tried to skull fuck them in Tuxalooza....right before the MNC game...would be mind boggling.

That's not the type of discord that builds over night.  And it's not the type that would allow a team to go undefeated either.  I have a hard time believing the bulk of it.  May be a kernel of truth to it somewhere, but I can't imagine that shit was festering all season, and suddenly came to a boil in the locker room of the BCSCG.  I've heard a rumor of a fist fight in the locker room before the game too.

The corndogs, many of them, actually want Les gone over Monday night.  (BTW, Les is the winningest BCS coach during his time at LSU with 1 NC, 1 #2 finish, and 2 SEC Championships in 7 years.  In total wins and winning % trails only Petersen at BSU, and Patterson at TCU, and neither count because they're not BCS level.)   I could even see a sect of their fan base starting this to get Les fired.

You know, LSU fans, unless they're under 15 years old, should be able the remember the likes of Mike Archer, Curly Hallman, and Gerry DiNardo and get some perspective.  I mean, Monday, Les was definitely shitting the bed in epic proportions, but fuck sakes.

Ed Zachary.  The guy already proved he could win the big one.  The bed did get shat upon Monday but if your fan base can't take one major shatting, you gots problems.  Hey, as Auburn fans, we understand the occasional shatting.

Lee had seven career interceptions against Bama, nobody in their right mind would honestly ever believe he gave them their best shot.  He almost fucked the game up the first time around.

And wasn't T-Bob a backup?  Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing him a lot in the first game.

Saw on coaching site some coaches discussing LSU's offense.  The thread started a couple of weeks prior to the BCSCG.  One coach was asking for info on their offense.  Many others chimed in with how it was nothing special, and that it really was a grab bag of plays that didn't compliment each other.  That LSU wins simply because they have better players and can overpower opponent...until they can't, leaving them with nothing schematically to get an advantage when they're not that much more talented.  Basically, most believe Miles is hamstringing his OC and leaning on defense, short fields, eating clock, and simply being more talented.  BTW, Saban does the same thing with his OCs...it's Saban's offense they run.  He just has a cohesive set of complimentary plays that make sense.  Simple offense by all accounts, but effective.  That was really the difference the other night.  Bammer wanted it more, and had a better plan that just going out and winning all the individual physical battles.   Incidentally, I think that they had a more Les like plan (stand toe to toe and slug) in game one, and that's why they lost it.

One of them posted this pic after the BCS title game.

There were a hand full of plays that I thought Steve Ensminger must've called (he's on LSU's staff). Also, the RT, Hurst looked worse than Chad Slade on a handful of passing plays (two inparticular...one were he decided not to block the DE, but instead turned to his left to triple team the DT...resulting in JJ getting nailed by Upshaw. The second, while pass blocking against Upshaw, he literally laid down (not trying to cu block, since there wasn't a receiver to that side)...resulting in a hurried pass by JJ due to the fact that Upshaw stepped over Hurst on his way to the QB).

Also, down by 15 in the 3rd Qtr...3rd and 8 on their own 35...FB dive into the teeth of one of the stingest defenses in the Country against the run (particularly between the tackles).

And I don't mean to defend LSU's play calling, but do we know if Jefferson has permission by the staff to check into different plays?  That could explain some of it.

If I was Coach Miles, I wouldn't have let Lee dress out, if you remember they'd show Lee would be warming up on the sidelines or stretching, everytime JJ would come off the field after another 3&out. That sticks into the back of the QB's mind, knowing that the backup is looking over his shoulder, causing him to press and try to make something happen (that usually results in mistakes...unless your name is Cam Newton)...especially if Coach Miles had no intention of playing Lee, even when the LSU faithful were booing JJ in the early part of the 3rd Qtr.

T-Bob was the sixth man until Dworczyk got hurt, then became a starter again. The difference in the game IMO was the thirty-seven days of preparation. And I don't need any evidence to know which team worked the hardest because it was so obvious. And based on these results and the Michigan State game I would say the plan works. I'm also convinced that several other teams would have beaten LSU the other evening because they were so flat. Without that DL rotation they get rolled by about 5 TDs against Alabama. Lee is Joe Montana when they are blowing people off the line and running play-action where he can deliver the ball to a wide open receiver. But with the game on the line and JJ in a panic Miles has to make the call if only to shake things up regardless of the results. He can always bring JJ back. Again, JMO!
