Not to get hopes up or anything, but a fun thought:

We hired our DC the day after Atlanta was eliminated from the NFL playoffs.

Could we get an OC from an NFL team still in the playoffs?

Would be monumentally awesome if we somehow ended up with even the worst of Denver, Houston, Baltimore, New England, New Orleans, San Francisco, NYG, or Green Bays OCs.

Its pretty apparent Chizik "gets" the culture of football in our state now. He is not settling. He is going for and (so far) getting who he wants. Kudos to him for aiming high in recruiting and asst coaches.

Saban wanted the Boise OC, but Boom Mother Fucker got him. Now Saban wants Koetter.

Last week, Pease emerged as a top target for both Florida and Alabama, which is in search of a new offensive coordinator after Jim McElwain left to become the coach at Colorado State.

Pease was in Gainesville, Fla., this past weekend and interviewed with first-year coach Will Muschamp, but also had been expected to meet with Alabama coach Nick Saban Tuesday.

With Pease joining the Gators, the Crimson Tide is expected to turn its attention to a couple of NFL assistants, including former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

Koetter, who spent the past five seasons in Jacksonville, is a former head coach at Arizona State (2001 to 2006) and Boise State (1998 to 2000).

New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who has been mentioned as a candidate for a couple of NFL head coaching vacancies, also might be on Alabama's short list.

Also the Chicago Bears want Koetter.

New offensive coordinator Mike Tice is pushing for the team to bring in Jacksonville's Dirk Koetter as QB coach/passing coordinator, according to an ESPN.com report. Koetter worked with Tice in Jacksonville. With the Jaguars still lacking a coach, Koetter's fate is undetermined.
