I don't give a shit if you're serious or not. I don't care how many OCs and DCs you can name, it means jack shit. I don't care if you think that because he's produced some good, hard hitting players, that that means we'll be hitting hard in practice and injuring our own players, it matters not what you conjure up in you head. It's a good hire IMHO, not that my opinion matters, because he IS the new DC.
And no, recruiting is always first. I don't know how many times I have to tell you that.
Whenever you have a recruits parents stating that the lack of a Coordinator produced somewhat of an uncertainty in the recruit's feelings towards the University....that should tell you that the hiring of the Coordinator is more important than any recruits. That coming from me should say something, since I've been a recruiting junky for going on 20 years now. I know what fucking matters and what doesn't....having uncertainty in the direction of your Offense and of your Defense is a a glaring negative on the recruiting trail. It also isn't good when the assistant coaches (the ones still on the road recruiting) can't tell the recruits which direction the team is going.
Also, when you have recruits that are on the top of your Big Board, state that they can't wait to talk to a different University due to the fact that they just hired a new Coordinator and he likes what he brings to the table, should tell you that hiring a Coordinator is more important than recruiting, especially when the direction of the program is up in the air (again, at this time).
What's the biggest negative recruiting tool a recruiter can use on the recruiting trail, side from NCAA Doom & Gloom bullshit? It's the uncertainty of the direction of the Rival's program.
The hiring of a "named" Coordinator is a Very Big boost in recruiting...The headlines become a recruiter.
As for injuring our own offensive players (defensive players too), it will happen....because the defense will be a lot more physical. (write that down and come back to it later). It's common knowledge, if one side is more physical than the other...there will be injuries. Our Defense and our Offense, last year were SOFT.
I really don't give a shit what you think you know, don't tell me I'm wrong...when I know I'm right.
