Just listened to Pollack on the round table.  Let me preface by saying that yes he did have a huge homer slant for Van Gorder because he played for him ( may have even been butt buddies by the way he spoke of him).

Now everything he said I loved.  When asked about schemes he responded that VG adjusts to not only the talent he has playing for him but also the offense he is playing, from limp to semi.

Said in film room he will call you out and jump your ass.  Straight up tell you that you suck.  Semi to a little hard.

Not scared to play man coverage, and knows hows to coach kids and mold them into men.  Full on wood.

When asked if he could turn AU's defense into a top 25 D within 2 years, Pollack stated that he can have them there next year. Blew my load.

Yeah I realize it was David Pollack, but he seems to know his x's and o's.  I loved everything he had to say about VG.

Yes it takes athletes to make a great team but it also takes coaching to get great athletes to live up to their potential.  Just like good parents raise good children and shitty ones raise people like RWS and Token.

I honestly believe we have enough for him to work with to get us there too.  No superstars, but enough to work with.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I don't give a shit if you're serious or not.  I don't care how many OCs and DCs you can name, it means jack shit.  I don't care if you think that because he's produced some good, hard hitting players, that that means we'll be hitting hard in practice and injuring our own players, it matters not what you conjure up in you head.  It's a good hire IMHO, not that my opinion matters, because he IS the new DC.

And no, recruiting is always first.  I don't know how many times I have to tell you that.
Whenever you have a recruits parents stating that the lack of a Coordinator produced somewhat of an uncertainty in the recruit's feelings towards the University....that should tell you that the hiring of the Coordinator is more important than any recruits. That coming from me should say something, since I've been a recruiting junky for going on 20 years now. I know what fucking matters and what doesn't....having uncertainty in the direction of your Offense and of your Defense is a a glaring negative on the recruiting trail. It also isn't good when the assistant coaches (the ones still on the road recruiting) can't tell the recruits which direction the team is going.

Also, when you have recruits that are on the top of your Big Board, state that they can't wait to talk to a different University due to the fact that they just hired a new Coordinator and he likes what he brings to the table, should tell you that hiring a Coordinator is more important than recruiting, especially when the direction of the program is up in the air (again, at this time).

What's the biggest negative recruiting tool a recruiter can use on the recruiting trail, side from NCAA Doom & Gloom bullshit? It's the uncertainty of the direction of the Rival's program.

The hiring of a "named" Coordinator is a Very Big boost in recruiting...The headlines become a recruiter.

As    for injuring our own offensive players (defensive players too), it will happen....because the defense will be a lot more physical. (write that down and come back to it later). It's common knowledge, if one side is more physical than the other...there will be injuries. Our Defense and our Offense, last year were SOFT.

I really don't give a shit what you think you know, don't tell me I'm wrong...when I know I'm right.

Blah, blah, blah.  You don't quit recruiting until you hire somebody, you recruit, and interview.  Seriously both can be done.
