SEC makes it official: Texas A&M replaces Florida on Auburn's 2012 football schedule
Published: Wednesday, December 28, 2011, 9:14 AM     Updated: Wednesday, December 28, 2011, 9:27 AM
Charles Goldberg/Auburn Bureau, The Birmingham News, Press-Register, and The Huntsville Times

ATLANTA -- Auburn lost a road game at Florida and picked up a home game against Texas A&M on its 2012 football schedule, the SEC announced this morning.

Auburn will open the season against Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, then open SEC play at Mississippi State on Sept. 8. Auburn will slot other non-conference games against Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico State and Alabama A&M later.

Auburn's SEC home games are against LSU, Arkansas, A&M and Georgia. The road games are at State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Alabama. Vanderbilt was supposed to visit Auburn in 2012, but conference expansion and the SEC's juggling of the schedule put the Tigers in Nashville next season. Vandy will play in Auburn in 2013. Vandy replaces South Carolina as Auburn's rotating SEC East opponent.

We reported the Texas A&M-for-Florida switch last night.
Florida played in Auburn this season, but the league canceled the return game because of the addition of Texas A&M and Missouri to the league for 2012. That expansion forced the SEC to juggle everybody's schedule.

Here's Auburn's SEC schedule:
Sept. 8: at Mississippi State
Sept. 22: LSU
Oct. 6: ARKANSAS
Oct. 13: at Ole Miss
Oct. 20: at Vanderbilt
Oct. 27: TEXAS A&M
Nov. 10: GEORGIA
Nov. 24: at Alabama

I guess it's cool we get another home game, and a chance to break the Aggies in.

Kind of sucks to lose Florida because we've sure as shit had their number since Spurrier's last year/the end of the annual meeting.

Wow...back to playing LSU early.  Not sure how I feel about that.

But this is about as nice of a schedule as you can get.

From what I understand, Georgia gets to avoid Bama, LSU and Arky...again.

I'd be willing to bet this will only last one year.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

still don't like the idea of having 4 non-conference opponents.  perhaps, this will change in the future.

honestly, i have been out of the loop on the entire conference additions and the restructuring elements.  basically, i knew missouri and aTm were joining the sec.

I think you're pretty much up to speed with everyone else.  I still have no idea how this helps the conference.  Yeah, I know it's a money thing but I've yet to hear it explained properly how the SEC suddenly taps in to all these huge new markets and rakes in the cash.  Nobody gave a shit about Mizzou before now.  Why would anyone care to see them get their asses kicked more often?

And by the way Mr. Nookie, if I have failed to give major props on that BRILLIANT looking ass in your avatar, my apologies.

The SEC figured it was time to give the puppies a cupcake chance to win it all since theyve been unable to do it on their own against real teams.

I stole the SEC's uber secret plans for making millions.  Here they are:

Step 1:  Obtain Texas A&M.
Step 2:  Obtain Missouri.
Step 3:  ?
Step 4:  Profit.

No.

Go ahead and simplify that a little bit.

I disagree. From reading some of the latest articles on the new schedules of the SEC teams, and lets say a little common sense thinking, leads me to believe this. I'm thinking that this first year gives the new teams a year under their belt and more time for other deals to be made. I don't know, something tells me that there will be two new additions after next season and then we'll see a possible conference re-alignment.

Possibly with two new teams added, but otherwise, no.

The divisions do make geographical sense, actually if you look at it on a map. It's just more accurately the Northeast and the Southwest.

Even this map kind of overemphasizes the dip between Auburn and Florida. They could straighten the Southestern portion of that line a bit.
