Jay G Tate, who I don't always agree with, predicted this 2 weeks ago. Which would lead me to believe it's more of a grade Issue. I'm thinking it was widely known that MD has been cutting/slacking on classwork and chizik probably couldn't suspend him until it was evident or official when grades were official after finals.

Finals were last week. Just sayin....might not be true but it def makes more sense.

Didn't JGT tweet, after the Iron Bowl, that he'd be surprised if Dyer was on the team next year? It could be a culmination of the three, grades, marjiuana, attitude...idk. All I know is that a bad apple will spoil the bunch and needs to be removed, unless he's able to change and become humble (maybe him sitting will do the trick).  I don't think Dyer has always been a "bad apple", he might've let the National Champion MVP go to his head or something, idk.

Whatever the case may be, the best course of action is always rampant speculation, and rumor mongering by those who don't have the first fucking clue.

I don't buy that. Chizik and the staff would have known he was cutting class. The Athletics Dept. hires students to sit outside of the classrooms where athletes are registered and check them in on one of those mini laptops for each class. Him missing excessive classes would have been reported to his advisor who would have informed his position coach about the issue. They would have known if he was cutting a lot of classes.

True that but I do think that the cat is out of the bag on this one. I know that there hasn't been "official" word on this but I'm sure you don't expect Chizik to say anything other than an "undisclosed team rule".

And maybe not cutting class exactly, moreless speculation the last couple of weeks that maybe he wasn't doing so hot. Chizik couldnt discipline the guy based off speculation because you can always bring a grade up before the semester ends. When grades became official after Finals last week, it was no longer speculation or rumor, and action was taken. My guess (and I could be wrong) is that he is ineligible due to this.

Why are Mike Dyer and Trent Richardson alike?

Neither of them go to class at Auburn.

Oh is he now? Besides his work as a return specialist, what makes you think he's a star?

Just a hunch... He has incredible vision and he is electric.  He just needs a tiny crease.  If he could follow lad Phillips between the tackles, he could get to the second level of the defense, and that's where he could shine.  He can make people miss and he is durable.  Not as big as dyer, but he doesn't have to be.  Maybe Mason isn't as proven as Dyer right now, but he is as good or better.  Bright career ahead of him for sure.

Concurrence....

If Mason played with Cam, Mason would be the stud and not Dyer...

If mason played with Cam, AU probably wouldn't have had so many close games last year.  Not just from the offensive standpoint with multiple legitimate homerun threats on the field at the same time, but field position.  Field position in the SEC is huge.  If mason was returning punts and luckless last year, cam wouldve had even less trouble scoring.

Auburn should have a first rate offensive line that any third teamer can run behind with success. Michael Dyer is a fucking beast, and OMac is generally the fastest guy on the field. I've been critical of the way Gus has performed as OC this season but I have no doubt that we see our best on the field and if we have someone on the roster that can light it up that guy would be on the field like TZak was. There have just been too many chances to insert Mason in the lineup in place of Reed,  Bray or Stallworth. We aren't saving anyone up just for his special teams play alone. Gus tried to use Mason like Watkins in the second quarter of the Clemson game and he dropped two easy passes. And perhaps there are practice habits that keep him out of the plan. I don't know but there is a reason he is not in the rotation as a regular.

Remains to be seen. ie. I'm interested to see what Grimes does with the line. Here's a guy who doesn't raise his voice (sort of a "big ugly" whisperer) who was highly sought after before Auburn landed him. There has to be as much improvement from this unit as any other on the team for Auburn to thrive on offense next season.
And I know you say it mockingly but no one had to develop Cam, Dyer, Blake or Lutz.

Actually I'm poised to heap some praise on this staff in the near future. But for now...

Jay Boulware was outstanding this season as special teams coordinator. Tremendous turnaround.
He fixed problem areas across the board and raised the performance level of his units.
