Remember that shitty decision by Maze to not catch the punt that ended up rolling 75 yards?

After the game, Maze claimed the ball hit one of the wires suspended over the field that guides a moving CBS camera.

"It kinda messed me up, but it was better for us to get it back there than to try to field it and muff it," Maze said.

In such a case, the ball might have been declared dead.

"Nobody said anything about it," Maze said.

Oh no!  Maybe a rematch is needed!  Right? 

An operator of the camera told the Daily Bama Blog that the ball didn't touch the wire.

P.J. Bennett of Action Cam, the operators of the CBS suspended camera, said the ball never made contact with the wire.

"We checked in the truck," said P.J. Bennett of Action Cam. "We looked at all different angles. It did not hit the line.

"As a matter of fact, we saw the shot through our camera. And through our lens, if it would have hit the line, it would have giggled the camera. Saw nothing. So there's no evidence."

I think this is why I am happy LSU won instead of Alabama.

At work today? They're just as happy about the Saints beating Tampa Bay as they are about LSU winning this on Saturday. All of the water-cooler chatter I've heard is about a 50/50 split, most of which cover both topics.

This morning on the way in, the local talk radio guy posed the topic "Which makes you happier, the Saints win or the LSU win?" Every caller I heard said something along the lines of "I guess I realize the LSU win was bigger, but in terms of my personally feelings of happiness after the game, it has to be the Saints win." And the Saints were kicking Tampa's ass pretty much the whole game.

That's the difference, I guess. There's certainly a faction of cordog assholes that bleed purple & gold, but it doesn't seem to be the average citizen. At least not in New Orleans. Maybe upstate. If they would have lost, I doubt much would be spoken about it. Alabama fans, on the other hand, I'm sure are in a meltdown of devastation right about now.

According to my asset who is embedded with the Talibama, the devastation had turned to anger over being cheated and confidence/joy over the guaranteed rematch for the "real" national title by the time dawn broke in Tuscaloser.

I didn't agree with it when they did it with UF & FSU and I don't agree with it now, assuming that you still have other unbeaten teams.  That is one of the things that makes college football unique.  You lose you don't play for the prize.

Im a huge OK. State fan now.  But you're right, they're convinced they're owed, and will get another shot.  BCS gave them hope.

Observations.  First, I wouldn't think many people outside the State's of Alabama & Louisiana would want to see a rematch.  The overkill on the media hype of this game was absolutely off the charts and overblown.  The game itself just wasn't that good..again, unless you are a fan of either team.  I'm well aware that there have been some very poorly played Iron Bowls but as a fan of one of the teams, every play is always life or death.  Same with this Saturday, too many penalties, too many turnovers, not enough offense...but I know every Tahd and Cajun fan held their breath on every play.  Not the country though.

Second, why do I keep hearing that these two teams are clearly...clearly better than the rest of the country?  Says who?  Nothing has been proven and you simply can't say that either of these two would throttle Stanford, Okie State, Oklahoma or Boise for that matter.  I have no doubt that it's all going to work itself out with the games remaining for all these teams.  But, until it all does play out, I'm tired of hearing that it's two teams and then everyone else.  Playoff, playoff, playoff.....

We had a bunch of people over watching THE BEST GAME EVER PLAYED.  I said right before it started that the only thing that worried me about LSU is I'm still not convinced, despite a 13/1 pass interception ratio, that Lee wouldn't go full on tard.  Seen it too many times against good teams.  I know it's an IF that can be debated back and forth, but I think if Jefferson starts and plays the whole game, LSU controls the game. By control, I mean at least they score a time or two more.  Still would be a tight game but I'd say LSU gets 13-17 points.  He was solid in limited playing time.  6-10 67 yards and 11 rushes 43 yards.  Not great but not bad in limited time against that defense.
