I particularly liked this line.
Quote
For those keeping track at home, yes, September 20th is the day the rookie who would surely struggle after the NFL lockout became the rookie who's only succeeding because of the NFL lockout.

Ive been saying this. Lawsuit would deter it from happening more. And it could carry some weight since there are millions at stake around a pro athletes "character". It didn't really hurt Cam moneywise since he was picked #1 overall, but if the "character issues" had caused him to slip to #23, you would think he would have a defamation/slander case.

No grounds.  Even if he was harmed by the speculation you have to prove that it was done with malicious intent and knowledge that what was said was incorrect.  Thayer, Shad, etc... their only defense is "sources said"  It keeps them 100% off the hook.

Lawsuits in these cases are exceedingly rare and even at the height of it there was ZERO chance anyone would ever consider suing seriously.

Has there ever been an athlete inspire more hate, have more doubters and detractors, and yet move through life and his sport so effortlessly and successfully?  Everybody that was sure he'd go down and take Auburn with him was dead wrong, and he even generated an unprecedented "clearance letter" from the NCAA.  Went #1 in the draft, and is earning that distinction on the field.  As K said, Auburn was privileged to have him play one year and grace us with his presence for a few wonderful Saturday's in Jordan Hare.

Auburn being cleared, winning the BCS, and Cam moving on to a very successful NFL career is a far greater punishment to all the ones that wanted him taken down.

This article could be called "A Profile In Character Assassination with a Cinderella Ending".

I LOVED that Peter King got blown off.  Fuck him.  He deserved it.  And I hope Gayer Goat AIDS chokes on his own vomit after Cam wins NFL Rookie of the Year.  Maybe Cam will send him flowers.

Right, I agree. The "anonymous sources" shit is total BS. But just the mere mention or filing of the suit would deter some of these Jackholes you would think.

I wrote a post either last week or early this week about how I yelled at that fucker outside JHS last year before the UGA game. It felt good too. He deserved every bit of it. The more I think about what these people did to Cam, the more angry I get. Especially since he and Auburn are 100% cleared from the NCAA.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I thought about nailing a tomato to his forehead but figured yelling at him was a better way to go. Emotions were high. The guy was slandering Cam. What can I say.
