Larceny gets the Markchand stamp of approval! Very nice, robust type of bourbon. I would compare it to Eagle Rare or Craig. Definitely worth picking up if you run across it.

Just got a bottle of Jack Daniels single barrel select as a Christmas gift, and I am impressed with how smooth it is.  I usually don't even look at the Jack section, but this is worth a look if you haven't tried it yet.

I've never tried it. I usually steer right past the Jack section also, but I might have to give shot next time around.

Got a bottle of teh new crown maplez. Thought I would hate it. Thought it would be too rich. I thought wrong. I love it. I don't say that about many but I really liked it. It's gone now.

I tried one of the maples a few weeks ago. Can't recall the brand because the owner of my favorite lick her store let me sample it.  Thought I would spew. It was like turning up a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth.

Why are we talking about Canadian blended whiskey and Tennessee whiskey in a thread titled small batch bourbon?

On our "tastings" at my lick her store, we always start out letting the caramel colored liquid socialize only with ice.  If it's pleasing to the palate, we continue that monogomous relationship. If not, then it becomes a threesome as we introduce some form of delicious coke product to the mix.

Cause this thread was dead damn it.

I bought a bottle of the Crown Maple, and I'm not a big fan of it.  Makes me look for bacon and eggs to go with it.

Just sampled Knob Creek Single Barrel. It's a much stouter version of the original at 120 proof. Quite nice, I've never seen it at the store though.

I found something new this week, Angels Envy. Bourbon finished in port wine barrels. This burb was a little bit sour, possible from the port barrel? All in all it was quite good. The closest comparison it can draw would be Blantons. The Blantons I've tried had a bit of the tartness similar to this. Definitely worth trying if you see it.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I have a bounty on this for anyone that can find it.

http://www.foodandwine.com/blogs/2014/2/26/im-on-a-boat-says-jeffersons-ocean-bourbon?xid=blog_20140303_19334584

Now that looks intriguing.  I'll keep an eye out for it...can't promise that it won't get opened and sampled first before I claim the bounty.

Oh, I've been around; just busy with work, family, social/ fraternal organizations, and more work (and it's college basketball season).  About the only social media that I have time for is Twitter anymore especially when it comes to the world of politics; Brevity is the soul of wit as far as I'm concerned.  "Ain't nobody got time" to read a Thesis.
