It just truly hit me that our offense ran the ball up the middle for the majority of the game. Dyer had one run called to the outside. So 40 of our 90 plays were designed to pound the interior.
We still hit the hurry up quite often, and it was almost successful. I think our opponent's athletic ability on defense is being neglected.
But why run so much up the middle? Why pound it?
And where the hell did that defense come from?
Eat clock. Run the ball. Play it safe on offense. Good kicking game (not much talk of how stout our punting was). Strong play on defense.
My God, it was Tuberville's team out there.
I think I'm coming around on the "Chizik has taken over the defense" theory. And with his takeover, it's changed our entire game plan including offense.
