An Epiphany

An Epiphany
« on: October 02, 2011, 09:38:53 AM »
I enjoyed the close win yesterday much more so than the close wins of Utah St and Miss St.  Throw in the close wins of last year (Clemson, South Carolina Part I, Kentucky, Arkansas, Alabama, and even Georgia) too.

The experience of watching a game where our defense is making stops to win is easier than watching a game where our offense is trying to score enough points to win.

I don't know why.  They technically aren't that different besides how many points are scored at the end of the game.

But I know that yesterday, I didn't feel like I was on the verge of a heart attack like I have been when watching Auburn desperately try to come back from behind or play catch up with teams scoring and running at will on us.

This win gives the "Trotter sucks" crowd (of which I am a member of) a shit ton more credibility. D - good, ST - good. O - decent except for one player. Guess who??

Can't say the D is good yet.  Improved?  Hopefully.  Improving?  Please God let it be so.

But Trotter has made some horrible decisions.  He can't scramble, but he tries to.  He throws the ball directly to the opposing teams sometimes.  He makes bad reads.  He misses guys that are wide open.  He's no threat with the option.

Now this is the Chizik era with the Auburn Tigers.  So next week, we're going to beat Arkansas 70-63 and Trotter will have 450 yards passing, 100 yards rushing, and eight total touchdowns.

I meant last night really. Trotter's excuses are gone. The D can't be blamed. He sucked even when they were good.

I'm not so sure if the defense was good, or, as my wife says, "Garcia SUCKS".
Hopefully we will see the defEnse continue to get pressure and penetration.

As for Trotter, he is not Cam. He is a manager(as has been said).
I still do not see any WRs that are helping out on broken plays. Last season we had a group of experienced WRs who would come back to the QB when things went bad. Darvin was really good at that. When Trotter is in trouble, he never seems to have someone in a good position to throw to. Couple that with his speed(lack of) and the scramble play is not very effective. Trotter and the WRs will get better at that. But if KF is in there and the same thing happens, we cannot be confident that his legs will get us out of trouble. But I do like getting him in there more. I would like to see him in some roll out plays. But I am not ready for him every play. The upside is just not worth the potential issues.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Has Trotter thrown an accurate pass while scrambling?

I know he does well when we move him out of the pocket, but I can't think of play where Trotter had to run for his life and then make an accurate throw down field.  He usually gets tackled or throws an intentional grounding that is paid off.

We COULD bring in Fulse for more protection and split Lutz out more. This way we can sneak them out fairly often which could also help spring OMac.
Benton wrestled away a sure pick yesterday. Maybe this is a sign he's ready to contribute more.
