Fuck all that.
Why should America be sorry about dropping nukes? Japan dealt the first blow. They brought the fight to us. Diplomacy wasn't going to fix things, obviously. For that matter, it took a second bomb for them to surrender. Bottom line, nuking them was what it was going to take all along to end this.
And by the way, fuck this whole world without nuclear weapons. The rest of the world, for the most part, doesn't play by the rules. It's the same shit we're dealing with now. You have your countries, such as Iran, with clandestine nuclear weapons programs. If you outlaw nuclear weapons, then the only people that will have nuclear weapons are outlaws. The second we get rid of our arsenal, somebody is going to come over here and sucker punch us. I'm sick of this "Well, if more countries like us, then they won't want to come over here and destroy us anymore!" rhetoric.
We didn't get our image of being the most badass country on this planet by going out and kissing people's asses. We got it by wielding the biggest fucking stick around. I'm not saying we need to go out and start a bunch of fights for no reason, but we don't need to sit back and be a bunch of apologists either.
