Sometimes it's good to reflect on what's good about your program.

And one thing that's good is that our program is not Ole Miss.

Quote
Dear Rebel Nation,

I am writing this letter because of my deep love for Ole Miss, the University,
Rebel football and the thousands of fans that show their support each and every Saturday in the fall and beyond. I am deeply troubled by the lack of effort and lack of commitment that is being shown by, not only the players, but the coaches, as well. What we all watched Saturday at Vanderbilt is not the brand of Ole Miss football that we have grown to love. It seems as if no one cares to make the necessary corrections or proper adjustments to change anything. I find that to be disturbing.

Since retiring from the NFL, I have moved my family back to Oxford and Ole Miss because I believe both to be among the greatest places in the world. It pains me to watch the deterioration of something that myself and so many other players and fans have worked and sweated to build for so many years. This must be fixed immediately.

How? It starts in the heart. I have not worn the Red and Blue of Ole Miss since the 2001 season, yet every Saturday that the team takes the field I fight the urge to run through that tunnel with them. My heart aches as much today as it did 10 years ago when the Rebels fail to win.

I am and will always be an Ole Miss Rebel. Coaching staffs come and go, so, too, do administrators. But, again, like so many of you, I will always be a Rebel. So, I can’t sit here and be critical of athletic director Pete Boone.
Pete wasn’t on the field last season, and he wasn’t on the sidelines
coaching Saturday. Therefore, what has happened this season and last season is a direct reflection of our current coaching staff and current
players who are on the roster now. There are those now that want to point the finger at Pete Boone, but who among them thought Pete was making a bad decision when he hired Coach Nutt?

Football is a tough game. We cannot swagger our way to victory. There seems to be a lack of intensity from our players, AND THAT MUST CHANGE NOW! It rests upon the shoulders of this coaching staff to re-establish the toughness, the grit, the can-do attitude that has been Ole Miss football for as long as I can remember.

I am asking all of you to continue to support the Ole Miss Rebels, regardless of your opinions on Houston Nutt, his coaching staff or the administration. You and I will still be Ole Miss Rebels long after this current situation has subsided. FIGHT, FIGHT, FOR YOUR OLE MISS!

Sincerely,

Terrence Metcalf

Thank God for Mississippi.

What Metcalf fails to realize is that Saturday was the epitome of Rebel football since the 60s.  That is who they are and who they will be always.

They haven't won anything of significance -- not in the SEC or even in the division -- since Kennedy was elected.

Oh come on!  Surely they've had some great success since Kennedy!  I'll bet the stats back me up on this one.

I mean, 1964 after Kennedy died, they went...oh wait....5-5.

Well I'm sure they had a 9 win season soon afterwards....

1971!  See!  Just a bit of a wait.  I bet things picked up soon after that.  Their next 9 win season came quickly in.....well....1990.

But they did make it to the Gator Bowl that year and, well, lost 35-3 to Michigan.

But the 90s were their year.  They had Tuberville and Brewer and they had, well, one 9 win season.  No appearances in the SEC championship game.

And David Cutcliffe had that one 10 win season.  And Nutt won the Cotton Bowl a few years ago.

Damn.  They had 5 or 6 respectable seasons in 50 years.  Ole Miss......  :haha:

Quote
    Dear [SEASON TICKET HOLDER],

The Rebel Family is the most important part of Ole Miss Athletics.  Without your generous support month after month, year after year and generation after generation, Ole Miss would not be what it is today - a destination university for Mississippians as well as the nation.  The richness of tradition and pride that encompasses Ole Miss fans all over the world is unparalleled.   The fullness of the Ole Miss football experience that you deserve and have generously invested in, has not lived up to expectations recently.  Coach Nutt and I met today and discussed the current state of Ole Miss football.  Both of us are extremely disappointed in our performance this year.  We agreed that to be successful, this disappointment must be met head on with solutions for improvement.  We discussed several areas that needed improvement and I support Coach Nutt in his effort to correct those areas.

As I have said, Saturday's performance and our running two-season SEC record are unacceptable.  Our commitment to compete at a championship level is as strong as ever and we will succeed!  We need your continued support of the team as Saturday is another SEC weekend and we need you here!

    Sincerely,

    Pete Boone

    Director of Athletics

I'm not gonna laugh.  Not that long ago I had some emails like that.

They should go All In.

They tried several years ago but chose "I'm In" as the slogan.  It was a good choice because those signs could quickly be altered to read "I'm in HELL" (and were).

If Hell is being with that Blonde holding up that sign.  I am in .  Side note if Gus goes there our awful D and an offense circa 2008 without Malzahn would just about do me in.

Keep the recruiters, plug in a no-huddle disciple and scour the NFL for a defensive wiz. Auburn will prevail.
