Ole F'Baum had ole Shareitagain on the show when I was driving home, and I had to point out a few inaccurate claims made by Danny Boy.
1. Tuberville did not leave Chizik a stocked cupboard. Sure there were a few upperclassmen to build a good team last year, but not only did Tuberville not recruit the talent that created the championship team last year, he demoralized the guys he did recruit. Numerous articles have been released since 2008 detailing how many players wanted to quit football. Ziemba is a noted leader from the 2010 team that stated he was done with Auburn football and was only playing because he knew he had a shot at the NFL.
2. Claiming that Chizik is a great coach but would be terrible to not win 9 of 12 games when he's an underdog in 8 of 12 games is as fallacious as fallacious gets.
3. Stallings might have played nothing but freshmen and sophomores his first two years at Alabama, but Chizik didn't have to. He recognized the talent he had, re-motivated them to win, and plugged in youthful talent to fill the depth chart. Those decisions made by Chizik earned him a national championship in his second year and not his third like Stallings.
4. I'm not really sure how bad Alabama was when Stallings took over, but I know they sure as hell wasn't on Vanderbilt's level when Saban took over. To say that Saban had to rebuild the program with the "dregs of society" is flat out wrong. Andre Smith, Glenn Coffee, John Parker Wilson, Rashad Johnson, Mike Johnson, Antoine Caldwell, Brandon Deaderick, Javier Arenas - all Shula's recruits.
5. How in the hell can you claim that LSU is the better football team this year but say that Alabama will have the better season? I didn't hear schedule mentioned. I did hear quarterback play mentioned. That Alabama was loaded but had quarterback issues. And LSU doesn't?
Screw that man hard.
