Apparently the money guys are in love with Miss. St. now. They are 7 pt. favorites this week against Auburn, and are currently only getting 1 against LSU next week. They are also currently getting 6 1/2 against 'bama later in the year. These lines would seem to indicate the bettors think Miss. St. is the 3rd best team in the SEC, almost on par with LSU. However, in SEC futures betting they are the 6th choice at 18 to 1.
The only bigger betting darling is 'bama as a 9 1/2 pt. favorite over Penn St. As mentioned above they are currently favored by 6 1/2 over Miss St and 6 over LSU. The line against Ark. has moved up to 11 1/2, and I feel silly for betting it at 9 1/2. The other bettors see something in 'bama I just don't see. The line for the iron bowl also moved up, now at 14, and in SEC futures 'bama is now +120. I just can't fathom making that bet, putting up $100 to win $20, 12 weeks from now. You'd be better off just waiting for the championship game, the money line on the game itself will probably be better.
S. Carolina is a 3 pt. favorite over Ga, and I have no idea what to think of that game, other than to stay away from it. I think my favorite line of the week is Houston at -22.5 over an inept N. Texas team. N. Texas lost by 25 to Fla Int. last week while Houston beat UCLA by 4. N. Texas is the kind of team that Houston will just run the score up on, trying to make stats for their QB who is chasing the all time passing number.
