College football writer Bruce Feldman explains why he left ESPN
by DP Show on September 1, 2011 in Dan Patrick Show

New CBSSports.com college football writer Bruce Feldman joined the show to talk about his former gig at ESPN.

Feldman went into the details of ESPN suspending him for writing a book with former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. He said he was up-front with ESPN about his relationship with Leach the whole time.

Then Feldman said that he found out Leach was going to sue ESPN and he told all the executives in Bristol immediately. He even said he talked to ESPN’s lawyers at the time. Then ESPN executives were angry when details came out about Feldman being part of the book.

Feldman said when the story hit, he was told he couldn’t Tweet, blog, go to the SEC media day and other restrictions. He said that he was on a “do-not-book list.”

Feldman said his contract was up and an executive at ESPN questioned his “credibility.” They at first offered him three years and a raise. Then they changed it to one year and no raise.

“If you’re a problem for them, you can’t exist in that world,” Feldman said. He said when your employers aren’t truthful … “it’s a problem.”

Feldman talked about ESPN broadcaster Craig James’ role in getting Mike Leach fired and more. Feldman said James lied about hiring a public relations field.

I can only imagine what it's like to cross the world wide leader but....Football is here.  It'll be swept under the rug.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."
