Danny Sheridan to me: "I learned my lesson. I never should have got involved. And I apologize I did get involved"

greggdoyelcbs Gregg Doyel
I'm grilling Sheridan. As an FYI. It's not YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH ...but I'm grilling him.

Podcast allegedly coming later.  I don't really care any more.  Sheridan = lying sack of excrement.

Podcast:
http://gregg-doyel.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/5881996/31633580

Stupid fuck starts off nitpicking over being called an "oddsmaker."  Wastes a long time babbling about that.

Says Finebaum called him in May and asked him to find out about Cam Newton.  "Everybody thinks its over.  Find out if it's over."

Seems to me like an admission that it was a set up.

Blah blah blah.  He's a monkey.

2 Guys and a Podcast: Danny Sheridan talks bagman
Posted on: August 30, 2011 8:51 pm

Danny Sheridan says he's sorry. He's sorry he ever opened his mouth about Auburn. Sorry he said a word about Cam Newton and the infamous bagman who paid Newton (allegedly) to go to Auburn.

Do I believe him? Sure. I believe Sheridan is sorry he spoke about this stuff, because USA Today isn't thrilled that their oddsmaker guy who makes odds is making headlines for bizarre reasons. I believe his reputation is taking a beating, and I believe he's starting to realize that.

Do I believe he knows who the bagman is, or even that there is a bagman? Nope. I believe all of this was a ploy for attention for his real job -- and now that the attention has gotten out of control, Danny Sheridan is sorry he ever brought it up.

I said something along those lines to Sheridan in this edition of Two Guys and a Podcast -- and when I did, he complimented me! True story.

Will Brinson, meanwhile, was merciless in his pursuit of the truth. You'll know what I'm talking about when Brinson asks the most blunt question of the podcast. Good thing the question was for Sheridan, not me, because I swallowed my tongue at that point.

Does he know how stupid he sounds when he says he was told in May and then says in June that he would find out in two or three weeks what it was?

Or whomever is financially backing Finebaum.  Probably the same person that has been backing Cecil Hurt all these years.

Really, I couldn't care who is behind all this garbage.

Everybody should just put the kids first and let us enjoy the game.

Could we please just dispense with all the bullshit?

Really, I am getting tired of all these cryptic messages too.

Even with the official decoder ring, I cannot figure these out.

Confusion reigns supreme around here.

When asked about his contacts in the NCAA, I distinctly heard Sheridan mention a retired individual among others that are active which I would characterize as parsing the truth because he hesitated in his response in two separate instances. I have no doubt the guy knows or knew a guy in the NCAA over the many years he has been involved with sports. But the challenge of a bet to those who doubt him (to Joe fan) and follow it with the offer of submitting to a polygraph or sodium pentathol GEEZ...I think the guy needs a family member or a friend to try to get him some help.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Just a questions for you lawyer types...

Okay, so understanding we're talking public figures and yada yada yada...

If what Sheridan admits to Doyel is true, could AU FINALLY have a reason to go after F'baum for slander?

Isn't the basis for slander suits understood as an intent to harm or bring undue negative attention to someone, or something?

If Finebaum was pursuing this information, and setting up a guest to come on to this show with a clear intent to harm AU's reputation, isn't that by the very definition, slander?  He actively efforted to find slanderous material with no other intent than to bring that negative attention to AU during SEC media days when he was hoping it would get max attention.

Thoughts?

What are the damages?  Quantify them for me.

What are the damages?  Quantify them for me.

Auburn employees have gained a slight wrinkle in their forehead after being annoyed by Paul Finebaum.

The psychological implications from this are off the charts and will require extensive research and treatment to fix.

As Wes said, you have to have damages to make a case.  Plus, as I've said many times before, when you sue, you have to open up your own closets.  Anything rattling around in there?
