Watching replay of Boise-Nevada game from last year.

Boise has no business ever being in a legitimate national title discussion.  They are a glorified high school team.  Funny how easy that is to see when you're not buried in mid-season ESPN Bronco hype.

I disagree, they are a decent team. However, if they played an actual schedule like the SEC 4-5 losses.

They are going to kick Georgia's ass.  And Oregon is going to kick LSU's ass.

Decent team for that level, perhaps.

Watched it too and thought the same thing.  Boise has a damn good team for the schedule they face.  I wouldn't limit it to the SEC.  I think they have 2-3 conference losses in the ACC, the PAC 8/10/12, the Big 10 and so on.  Screw that nothing to play for win over OU several years ago when they had to pull everything out of their ass to scrape by....OU annhialates that club 9 out of 10 years. Virginia Tech pummels them 31-17 75% of the time.  Nebraska owns that ass more times than not.

The thing about Boise is, while they do have some athletes on the club (And I personally think Kellen Moore could QB any real contender to a BCS bowl or title game..he's real good), the bottom line is, they play 1-2 "big" games every year.  How hard is it to get pumped for USC in a bowl game if you're Boise?  How hard is it to get pumped up if you're OU and your dreams got crushed and you now have to settle for upstart Boise in a bowl?  Real prestigious.

Here's the deal.  Could Boise do this with the week to week grind of....

Arkansas...oohh, miraculous win, we're on cloud 9...and now we can't wait to go to...

The Swamp.  Damn...how about following that up with South Carolina....then take a break with Western Kentucky...we're back on track but holy fuck, we've got to go into Tuscaloosa?  Wait, time out...I'm tired. Can't we just switch them out with New Mexico State?  We always look so gooood against them.

Yeah.  And there were 184 people in the stands for that "big" Nevada game.  ESPN showed each of them individually six times.

Seriously?  After "several expansions" the stadium seats 31,000.  Tuberville used to have that many at his backyard BBQs.

But I'm sure it's super loud like Oregon's 48,000 seat noisemaker.

Again, I pfffffffffttttttttt loudly.

Disagree.  Good, well coached team.  Not nearly as deep in talent as the top 2/3 of the SEC.  Their #1s can play with anybody on any given day, and have proved it more than once.  The issue of depth of talent would keep them out of the race in any of the major BCS conferences, but to say they are not a good football team is ludicrous.  By the standards some folks apply, there's no such thing as a good football team except at the NFL level.  The worst NFL team would smoke the best SEC team 7 out of 10 times, maybe all ten, therefor, the SEC is a bunch of "glorified, over-hyped high school teams"?   I think not.

Do they get too much attention?  Probably.  Should they be in the "NC discussion?"  Probably not, based on the schedule they play, but then you could stretch that logic to be applied to any conference not named the SEC.  Name another conference that has a team that starts the season with 6-8 ranked opponents on it's schedule like the SEC does.

Mmmmm, jury is out on the UGA team that shows up plays this season, but I'd give Boise slightly better than 50/50 odds.  With LSU's current distractions, and potential personnel losses, they could implode the entire season in game one.  However, Oregon has some distractions as well, we just don't hear as much about them from way out there.

If they played an SEC schedule (or Pac-12), they would be able to recruit better athletes.  All their wins have come without ever having a top 50 recruiting class. It's a shame they didn't get to move into the Pac-12.  IMO, they would be competitive immediately, and in the title hunt in just a couple years.  Very well run program.
