Toughest Schedule of All Time?

Quote
Date Opponent Result
Aug. 30 Georgia So.  TBA
Sep. 6 Central Michigan TBA
Sep. 13 at South Carolina TBA
Sep. 20 at Arizona State 8:00pm
Sep. 27 Alabama TBA
Oct. 11 Tennessee TBA
Oct. 18 Vanderbilt TBA
Oct. 25 at LSU TBA
Nov. 1 Florida TBA
Nov. 8 at Kentucky TBA
Nov. 15 at Auburn TBA
Nov. 29 Georgia Tech TBA

Two tune up games.  At South Carolina - Spurrier could actually have this team competing.

At Arizona St - far away game with big national exposure.  They were a decent team last year.

Alabama, Tennessee - That's four straight games that could pose a problem.  Bama is the sandwich game.

Their next tune up is Vanderbilt - who almost should be 2-0 against UGA over the last two years.

Then AT LSU, Florida, AT Kentucky, AT Auburn.

This might be a team that could compete against any team in history, but their schedule might give them two-three losses.

I can't remember a tougher schedule than that for any team in a loooonnnnngggg time.

Auburn's 83 schedule was ranked by one publication as the 6th hardest in college football history.

 G  2  9/17 1983 R   H L   7-20  ( 11 -  1 - 0    6) Texas
 G  3  9/24 1983 R C A W  37-14  (  9 -  3 - 0   11) Tennessee
 G  4 10/ 1 1983 R   H W  27-24  (  7 -  5 - 0   18) Florida State
 G  5 10/ 8 1983 R C A W  49-21  (  6 -  5 - 1   29) Kentucky
 G  6 10/15 1983 R   A W  31-13  (  3 -  8 - 0   48) Georgia Tech
 G  7 10/22 1983 R C H W  28-13  (  3 -  8 - 0   43) Mississippi State
 G  8 10/29 1983 R C H W  28-21  (  9 -  2 - 1    4) Florida
 G  9 11/ 5 1983 R   H W  35-23  (  8 -  4 - 0   17) Maryland
 G 10 11/12 1983 R C A W  13-7   ( 10 -  1 - 1    2) Georgia
 G 11 12/ 3 1983 R C N W  23-20  (  8 -  4 - 0   10) Alabama
 G 12  1/ 2 1984 R   N W   9-7   (  9 -  3 - 0    7) Michigan

You have to take into account that when Auburn played the following teams, they were ranked in the top 10.

Texas

Florida State

Florida

Maryland

Georgia

Alabama

Michigan

Throw in Tennessee, who finished at #11 and Southern Miss, who was ranked in the top 20 when Auburn played them(My copy and paste skillz on teh e-bays suck) and you have one hell of a schedule.

UGA's is tough but all time tough?  Wait and see how the teams pan out.

Are you kidding?  The hogs would probably be willing to trade for that schedule.  At least your tough games are somewhat spread out.  Arkansas has one four game stretch that goes Texas - Bama - Florida - Auburn.  Throw in S. Carolina and LSU at the end of the year as well.

Actually the schedules are pretty similar, 6 common opponents in conference.  We play the two Miss schools, while Georgia plays Tenn and Vandy.  Obviously Tenn is tougher, but both Miss schools will probably be better than Vandy.  Texas is probably better than Az St, but then we get three cupcakes while Ga plays 2 cream puffs and Ga Tech.

Unfortunately, while I try to remain positive, Ga. will probably make much more of their schedule than my hogs can manage.  But then again,  you never know.....

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

They'll breeze through that schedule as long as Richt lets his thugs storm the field after each TD.

I have just returned from the year 2013, where I was able to consult a copy of "Gray's Sports Almanac".   I can confirm that this is not the toughest schedule of the year 2008.

I think the schedule is tough for sure but the toughest of all time? The 2 cupcake games to start the season doesn't help the argument for the toughest schedule ever IMO.
