When it comes to football, my loyalty goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers. I've never really cared about either one of the state schools in Alabama because I didn't go to either school. But the more I hear people talk about the strange situation surrounding Florida State victories in the state of Alabama when it comes to recruits. I usually don't listen to the rumor mill, but I'm hearing some Florida State fans tell me that they're not sure that some of the things Florida State is doing are legal when it comes to recruiting.
Things don't go their way and "somebody done cheated!"
The irony of their program being the cheatingest motherfuckers on the planet from time immemorial is lost on them.
"Don't no coach go from 5-19 to winnin' without cheatin, GAWDAMMIT!!"
"5-19 coach don't brang in no good recruits less'n he cheatin', GAWDAMMIT!!"
"How a team gonna go 8-5 and suck and then not get beat the next year? Cheatin' GAWDAMMIT!"
Auburn won the SEC West. That means we cheated.
Auburn won the SEC. That means we cheated.
Auburn won the Iron Bowl. That means we cheated.
Auburn won the BCS. That means we cheated.
Auburn beats them for a recruit. That means we cheated.
FSU beats them for a recruit. FSU cheated.
In their minds there is no other explanation.
I hate the fact that Rogers' scheme gave the bastards an angle from which to build a crucifix, but I've come to realize that even had that not happened, they'd be screaming "gawdamm cheaters" anyway. They'd be sending thousands of emails to the NCAA about something else they fabricated.
I'm sort of glad it was Cam, though. Dude had the personal strength to bear it. Not many would have.
