Which newcomers will make an impact?Auburn signed 25 players last February and, after defensive back Anthony Swain and running back Tre Mason were recently approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, all have qualified. That’s important, considering Auburn’s lack of depth, because playing time can be had for freshmen. In addition to the freshmen previously mentioned, the biggest impact could be made on offense.LaGrange athlete Quan Bray will get a look at running back because of the team’s lack of depth behind Mike Dyer and Onterio McCalebb. The coaches’ bigger concern, however, is how Bray is coping less than a month since the murder of his mother, Tonya, allegedly by his father, Jeffery Jones.“Football’s kind of his outlet,†Malzahn said. “And he’s had a great attitude and kept working. He’s one of those guys we’re rooting for.â€Tight end Brandon Fulse and H-back/tight end C.J. Uzomah could get on the field early because of depth issues at those positions. It’s unclear if linebacker/wide receiver Kris Frost, Auburn’s only five-star signee last February, will be able to do much early on because of recent shoulder surgery.
It's official?
AUBURN, Alabama -- Tre Mason is in the building, quite literally, and is preparing for the start of fall practice tonight. He's checking in with coaches in the Auburn athletic complex this Wednesday, and is officially the last player in the Tigers 2011 signing class to make it. It means all 24 players who signed in February have qualified.Mason, at the least, figures to provide depth at running back behind starters Mike Dyer and Onterio McCalebb.Mason rushed for 1,643 yards and 24 touchdowns last season at Park Vista High School in Lake Worth, Fla., last season. He rushed for 4,500 yards in his three-year high school career.
It moved. Can we get an emoticon for that?
I'd love to see a report on what kind of shape everybody came in at. I've only seen that one where Angelo Blackson had bulked up to 325. And the report was that he bulked up, not ballooned up.
Don't hide it man...you want pichers.
I've only got Craig Sanders in the shower. Still good but getting a little worn.
