I know it's fun to post this type of stuff and use the  emoticon, and say something really cute like: "Who knew that a knife could cut you?"  Maybe even bait CCTAU in to a lawyer hating rant too.  That's always a bonus.  But it's the block, which is supposed to protect the blades, and protect fingers from the blades that is the source of the recall.  The points of the knives can protrude from the bottom, and I can understand the hazzard if one didn't know that, and tried to lift the block full of knives.  So yeah, knives cut you....especially when you're unaware the point is protruding from a place it's not supposed to.

I'm pretty sure that moving a knife block without removing the knives is risky if not dangerous.  I bet that warning is even included in the 300 page hazards booklet that accompanies the blades, along with not using a knife as a fork or attempting to cut food that is already in your mouth.  But, I also realize that modern society is occupied protecting the weakest... the lowest common denominators... the mouth-breathers of civilization.

It's NEVER the fault of a poorly designed, or manufactured product is it?  Always a dumbass using it.  Is it even remotely possible that a dumbass manufactured or designed something that doesn't do what it's supposed to do?  Is that even fucking remotely possible?  And you know damn well that if that was sitting on your counter, and you just wanted to move it to clean up the counter around it, you wouldn't remove all the knives to slide it a few inches.

I also would not pick it up from the bottom to "slide" it a few inches to clean.  They are knives for gods sake, take a little care around them and you will not be cut.

This is the same kind of thought that made the makers of Preparation H to include a warning that says it is for EXTERNAL use only.

I always keep mine on the front edge of the counter too.  It's closer to me that way.

I don't know what I was thinking.  A product designed to sheath knife blades that leaves a portion of the blade exposed isn't defective.  Sorry I even tried to go down that path.  Carry on.

And no, it's not even close to your preparation h analogy.

Actually, one of my knife blocks is designed that way.  It's the first one I ever bought.  It's a Rubbermaid product, and I've owned it for nearly 20 years.  And, you know what else?  I've never cut myself with it.  WTF???

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Meh, take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem cure itself.  Then no one would be cutting themselves.

Be a lot of people nicknamed "stubby".  Speaking of lawsuits, missing digits, and people doing stupid things I had a high school football coach who had one of his thumbs replaced by his big toe.  I remember him standing in the locker room telling a kid on the team that he didn't need to use any of the math he learned in high school and the head coach saying, "That's why you have a toe on your hand, dumbass."

Good times.
