COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles says its investigation of Ohio State football players' car purchases found no evidence players received improper deals.

The agency undertook its review following allegations that two Columbus-area dealers sold vehicles to Ohio State athletes and family members at below market rates.

The BMV's 65-page report issued Tuesday said the certificates of titles for cars sold by Jack Maxton Chevrolet and Auto Direct to players and families accurately reflected the vehicles' sales prices.

Questions about players' car purchases arose in the wake of a scandal in which some players received cash and tattoos for autographs, championship rings and equipment.

They're still fucked.

But no need harping on how they're going to get the death penalty.

Danny "Alabama Graduate" Sheridan in the midst of his revelation that Cam Newton is still being heavily investigated by the NCAA also stated that in the coming weeks, information on OSU would leak out that would show how bad they were cheating.  He specifically mentioned information coming out to reveal how the players received the cars from these dealerships.

Welp, sorry Danny.  The cars will end up being a nonissue unless something comes out about these families being given money to purchase these cars.

Purchase is not really the issue.

Given to drive, however, is.

Were they given cars to drive?

Looks like unless the Ohio BMV is part of some grand scheme to protect OSU, those cars were sold to the players and the families.

I'll wait to see if anything comes out to show that the families were given money to purchase those vehicles.

Tressel lying is the worst thing about this scandal. IMHO, it's not that bad. Definitely not Death Penalty bad.

The NCAA would never give OSU the death penalty.  I don't believe that they will give any team the death penalty ever again. It is too decimating to a program, and teams that have the prestige of OSU would never get it.  The charges would have to be pretty damning and so outright blatant they had no other choice.

People (read bammers) seem to forget that what SMU did was pretty fuckin serious. It wasn't about questionably improper benefits to a couple of kids. They were paying pretty much the whole team straight cash. The NCAA busted them and told them to stop. SMU basically said "Fuck you," and just kept on paying players, and not even being that secretive about it.

No school will ever be that dumb again.

The above bolded - they did this 3, count em 3 fucking times!!

There came a point to where the only thing the NCAA could do to get them to stop was to shut them down. They ignored the sanctions and warnings three times. It wasn't working. Cut the head off.

That's why I say tOSU's worst issue here is Tressel lying. That would borderline on lack of inst. control. The stuff he was covering up was moderate at best.

To go all the way back to the Sugar Bowl...I truly believe that had Tressell just sat those players and took his chances against teh swines, we probably would have never heard another word about anything at tOSU.  When you do something as blatantly stupid as allowing them to play in exchange for missing East Western Devry Institute and Jolly Ranchers U. games next season, people get pissed and start looking for ways to bring you down.  When I heard about trading jerseys or whatever for tattoos, I thought, game suspension, run stadium stairs til pukage begins.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

The fucking crimson moron hoard has been throwing around "Auburn's getting the death penalty when they find out Cam knew, blah blah blah".  No, no we're not getting the death penalty UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES REGARDING CAM...PERIOD, THE END.  Nobody is short of doing what SMU did again.  I think they'd use it on a program that continues to blatantly run 100mph in a school zone after being repeatedly caught and put on probation.  We have a school like that in this state, and it's NOT Auburn.  tOSU won't get the death penalty.  If it turns out that the violations were as chicken shit as trading gear for tats, they likely won't get much at all since the worst part of that situation was the lying by Tressel, and he's gone.  If they find more, or find out the lying was systemic, that lots of people knew and failed to report it, then they will get hit with lack of institutional control, and get hit hard.

He allowed them to play because the NCAA said they could, end of story.

Had that all been reported, the benefits repaid, you're probably right...game or 2 suspension, to bed without dinner, and stadiums.
