Sammy's vs. The Furnace

The wife is out of town this weekend, so a couple of buddies and I decided that we needed to check out The Furnace in Birmingham.  For those of you who don't know, The Furnace is Birmingham's newest titty bar.  None of us had been yet, so we went last night.  I admit that the center stage talent was pretty damn good, but the chicks that danced on the side stages were sub-par at best.  The service was lacking, and even the old guy that gives you a towel in the bathroom was a dick to me.  We hung out until around midnight, and after we all agreed that The Furnace sucked, we decided to head over to Sammy's. 

I'm a Sammy's veteran, especially considering I lived about 2 blocks from there up until I got married.  We walk in and grabbed a table, and we were served immediately.  The waitress was awesome, and the talent was much better overall.  We stayed until almost 3 am, at which point I went across the street to see Jumbo at the Upper Deck.  He's a hell of a singer, by the way.  I don't think his wife cared for me to much, but I was completely obligerent by that point, so I probably made a dick out of myself.  But I digress...

Overall, I'd have to say that Sammy's kicks The Furnace's ass.

I go to titty bars to get unruly, and Sammy's provides an environment that allows me to do so.  The Furnace just seemed too stuffy to me.

"Stuffy" is a word I would use to describe Sammy's. All dark with a low roof, and not much room to besides the 5 feet or so between the stage and the walls on either side.

The furnace on the other hand is two stories of open ceiling, and dim lights all around.

I agree 100% with you in that The Furnace's building is top notch.  It was the atmosphere that sucked.  Maybe I just caught it on a bad night.

Not part of the Sammy's/Furnace debate but about 3 weeks ago, I hit Rachel's in Orlando.  Yeah, very elegant and a little higher class clientel, but DAAYYYUUUMMMM.....the talent was, well..talented and the two girls right next to me, who were customers, were groping each other the whole time and buying lap dances from the best of the best in there.  I didn't have to spend much at all.  The two lesbos were putting on one hell of a show and buying lap dances that happened about 1 foot from me.
