Does the Tornado in Tuscaloosa offset "the Updyke thing"?

I understand what he's trying to say, but "the Updyke thing" was personal (UA vs AU) the Tornado in Tuscaloosa wasn't.  It didn't offset anything, that brotherhood bitterness will always be there...the feud was at a boiling point, but the temp. has been turned down somewhat.  It'll be back to boiling and "the Updyke thing" will be brought back up.

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Crime brought on by redneck filled with dumbass and hate = natural disaster?  Yeah, that makes sense.

The tornado has NOTHING to to with bammer vs Auburn.  Updyke has everything to dot with what's wrong with the crimpsum, mullet nation.

Exactly my point. The Tornado Relief Funds and getting out to help is just people doing what they're suppose to do, that's helping a neighbor/fellow man out.  The rivalry does not apply in this situation or situations similar.

I don't think it "offsets" anything; however, I do believe it quells the shitstorm that was going to be the Iron Bowl of 2011.

Hopefully this puts priorities in order.  Football is simply football.  It's entertainment.  It's light hearted smack talk.

It's not worthy of terrorism, and it's not worthy of genuine despicable behavior.

Hopefully both sides of the aisle has learned this through the recent events - especially the western side of the aisle.

The situations are not in the same realm.
I love sport but it doesn't include intense hatred for any person, place or thing. Sport does not render me powerless to my weakest faculties. We have our entertainment but the competition on the field is where the fight belongs. I have Bammer family and friends and we give each other hell jokingly and then it's on with our mundane lives. And granted I do get pretty animated during games, and I once booed a player while sitting next to my Dad. Big mistake! I learned it was perfectly acceptable to applaud good play. And from that point on we whispered or spoke later about the negative stuff. So the old man didn't raise no hooligan. So IMO,  beyond some cheering and good natured jeering among rivals, all else is unacceptable.

Question:      Are water cannons an acceptable option to deter mutts ?

                                                                                           I keed!

All great points. Football is entertainment and some times can also be a healing tool.

If I had created the tornado with my weather machine and it had destroyed that whore's den they call a stadium, twisted the Saban statue into a dildo and rammed it up the Bryant statue's ass -- and knocked out a few frat houses for good measure -- then yeah, we'd have something to talk about.

No comparisons between a natural disaster and the deranged, depraved acts of their fanbase.

Have they learned anything?  Will the rivalry be tempered?  Don't be a fucking idiot.

The same people who were working to break Auburn before the tornado are working just as hard after it.  They will see our efforts to be good neighbors as an extension of the weakness they believe we possess.  And they'll exploit it.

The people who scheme to do us in aren't on the ground in Rosedale Courts Housing Authority or the very low income Alberta City area or the rapidly declining Forest Lake subdivision.  They weren't at Full Moon BBQ or Big Lots.   Or even Chuck E. Cheese or Krispy Kreme.

I know for now things may be more lighthearted than normal due to the tornadoe disasters but I'm not gonna be nieve to think that our rivalry will not return back to its nasty state. It would be nice to have a break from the stupid shit. Its sad that it takes some fucked up shit to happen before realism comes to the forefront.
