Again, I am NOT happy about it. But the general concensus I am reading is
JAKE LOCKER?? WTF?? They wasted a first round pick on a guy they could have picked up for second/third round money? Shitty management.
At least Ingram is going to a winning team. Fuck the Titans.
Yeah, it was a shitty choice. Whether or not they could pick him up later doesn't matter to me; I just wish they didn't pick him at all.
Given the recent progression of events, they needed to pick a quarterback. Waiting until a later round to see if Locker or anyone else was around would, in my opinion, be a bad decision. They knew they needed a QB, they knew they were going to draft one, so...why not do it in the first round? Even Ponder and Gabbert went pretty quickly afterwards, and neither of them were expected to go before Locker. So I don't think waiting until later would have been the right solution. Unless, of course, they wanted Mongoloid Mallett, but it's still a toss-up in my mind as to whether that would have been worse than Locker.
My gripe is just that it's Jake Fucking Locker.
Yes, Jake Locker's a bad choice in general...but at least we don't have to clean up fur and menses in the locker room.
