Insomnia and Pasadena
« on: April 27, 2011, 11:18:44 AM »
Was awake in the middle of the night, as usual.  Ran across the Alabama-Texas BCS title game on ESPNU.

Watched the last few minutes of it.

Reminded me again of just how much I despise that crimson pack of assholes.

I try not to think about it.

The first few minutes of that game made Alabama look silly.  Awful coaching decisions by Saban.  Poor performances from the players.

Then bam.  Colt goes down and Texas doesn't have shit to make up for it.

Actually what's sad is they did.  They had speed on the outside that continually burned Bama's corners and safeties.

But what happened was that kid was so doe-eyed when he was forced into the game that he couldn't get his brain and legs working simultaneously in the second quarter.

Alabama only had one decent drive all night.   The rest of their points came on turnovers and a short field and one long run.

I had forgotten that Texas had the ball down three with just over two minutes left.

The blindside hit on Gilbert to force a fumble made the difference.

Bama scores on a short drive, Ingram celebrates like he just won WWII single handedly -- standing around in the endzone acting like an Ewok even when the extra point was about to be kicked.  And then classless Bama tacks on another score after a turnover with under a minute left.

That score showed ZERO class.

How many times have we seen Auburn, especially under Tuberville, run off two minutes or more when the game was won?

Not these backwood rubes.

They suck.

Bama came out shaky in that game. And got it together towards the end of the 1st quarter. Nothing to do with Colt - like Julio's fumble. That was pure nerves. As much as I hate to say it, I think they would have won regardless. Texas made the comeback while Bama was in a zone Nickel the entire 3rd quarter. Its true - as much as I hate saying it.

Colt McCoy goes down and a legendary, can't miss draft choice was born.

Don't care what they were in.  Bama's corners and safeties couldn't run with Texas' receivers when Gilbert had a little time to throw.

Bama might have won with or without McCoy, but I'm not convinced.

Maybe we should have engaged in a massive media campaign full of lies and rumors to have it taken away from them.
