Reed and Phillips

Auburn is obviously blessed with two very uniquely gifted athhletes capable of playing several positions.

Reed ran a 10.8 100 meters in high school with a 37 inch vertical jump.  Wildcat/WR/CB/S
Phillips ran over everthing in his way and can do a standing back flip.    RB/DT/LB

But which of the two will play more snaps for the team in 2011?   AND

I ask this question because talent like this needs to be on the field...as in full-time starter.

In my most humble opinion, Reed is the second most important person for our offense next year.  That is, if he's worth the hype.  (Starting QB is the first)

One of the main reasons why we were so effective last season was that Cam had the ability to make our offense incredibly dynamic.  We need a change up to provide that much needed spark, and Reed's ability to run should provide that.

Phillips, honestly, is overrated.  No way a 290 lb running back makes noise in the SEC.  He might provide some decent blocking, but no way he comes in and runs like Ron Dayne.

Reed will get more snaps probably. The guy is talented and will be a weapon Malzahn will use a good bit, but, I do believe Phillips will be a nice little weapon as well. Of course the talent level is different but the guy has speed, quick feet, and the size that will make a nice change of pace. I don't think he is overrated one bit. First, he came out of HS as what, a two star? Secondly, it was the coaches and players  themselves that got so excited about him and let everyone else in on the surprise. I think I can trust what they're are telling me.

What if: Phillips can run with Zack Clayton and Josh Bynes?

Instead of a short yardage specialist...we line him up at different spots on defense, ILB,DE,DT, whatever the situation calls for. Can you imagine this guy getting a running start at Marcus Lattimore? Stephen Garcia? All I'm suggesting is that this guy represents value as a full-time deconstructor of offenses. I want to see him more than Tristan Davis, more than Mario Fannin. I want him wrecking some asses, not twinkletoeing it for 12 plays a game and 2.9 yards per carry. I'm saying he can always be a bit player on offense, but he can be a captain on defense.

Reed: 2 carries for 8 yards, 0 receptions in 2010. 

How in the fucking hell could anybody come to the conclusion that these two are full time, every down material in the SEC?

Reed has a better chance at being a big contributor than Phillips.  Will he live up to billing?  Who knows.  Phillips, unless he's a huge surprise will be a spot/role player.  UNLESS, he can play defense, then he may wind up playing a bigger role, but I can assure you it won't be at LB.

OK, Reed would make an NFL corner without a doubt if he can stay upright. The word on him was that he possessed all of the natural instincts for the position and with Washington gone and Thorpe moving to SS, wouldn't it be better to field him full-time at corner like a Patrick Peterson? He can always be a wilcat QB and specialist on offense.

I know for a fact, that when Reed played at the Under Armor All-American they lined him up at CB just to try it.  The scouts at the game said, "He was the best CB on the field and that's not even his position."

Yes it's important for elected officials to gain a perspective of entitlement, gambling, carousing when no one is looking etc.

Also.
 If Trovon Reed had a future in football, what position would best suit him?   CB

 A projection, not a proclamation.

Easy to see how he would be pencilled-in as a starter much the same as with Kodi Burns, Tyrik Rollinson, or Gabe Wright.
