Twenty-year-old David C. Davis was mid-haircut Tuesday afternoon when, he told police, he was nearly attacked by another man and had to defend himself with a pair of scissors, police said.
The victim sustained a cut to the right side of his upper back. He is expected to recover.
Davis, who is from New Haven, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. He was also charged by warrant for failure to appear in court. He is scheduled to appear in court March 22.
Davis was getting his hair cut in an apartment at 126 Henry St. A 21-year-old man he had argued with in the building approached Davis in an aggressive manner, police said.
Davis, afraid the 21-year-old was going to hurt him, picked up a pair of scissors and slashed his aggressor in the back, police said.
Police found Davis in an apartment at 124 Henry St. and took him into custody without incident. The scissors were also recovered.
