My Buddy's Comedy Gig
« on: March 02, 2011, 12:04:45 PM »
This was his second show. He did another Open Mic in Atlanta, which was pretty good too.

Not bad for an early attempt, in my opinion.

He went up against about 15-20 amateur comedians and placed 2nd. I thought he got robbed out of 1st.

The person he's heckling to take his shirt off was an about 80 year old man.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Me, Taylor, and this cat were pretty much the clique growing up.

Then he went to some Youth-Pastor school in Canada instead of Auburn, and we hardly stayed in touch with him since then.

I'm definitely going to see him the next time he comes to the Stardome (which apparently is April 1).

Oh, so he finds God and tries to get his life straight and you guys want nothing to do with him.  I see how it is.  Haters.

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

This was his other show.

You can tell he's super nervous, and it just overall wasn't as funny. He definitely overused the word "fuck", most likely as a nervous tick. But again, for a first attempt, I've seen worse.

To me, the improvement from his first show to his second is promising for what he may be able to do down the line.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

He was on some late night local TV show in Montgomery.

Really, it's only funny in the context of the rest of the show. I especially recommend "Text Shout Outs".

James's parts are at 11.00 & 27:30.
