Fannin just helped his Draft stock...
« on: February 27, 2011, 07:05:35 PM »
4.38 40 at 228lbs.

Ingram - 4.62 40 at 212lbs.

IMO, Ingram didn't look that good in the drills. He looked slow, that would worry me, because the whole reason for him dropping the weight was to be faster and quicker.  He'll still go first round, but it'll be towards the end (Picks 20-32).
("I don't care what he does here at the Combine, I've seen what he does on the field" - Matt Mayock)
I guess Mayock didn't watch the games where Ingram quit on his team.

Julio - 4.39 40 at 228lbs, 38.5" Vertical, 11'3 Broad Jump.

He'll be the first WR taken, (Picks 10-15).  Mayock said that he didn't care what Julio did at the combine, he's still got AJ Green over him, because he saw Julio have trouble being jammed at the LOS by LSU's Patrick Peterson (The #1 rated CB).

I really hope NFL teams don't take Mayock's advice on upcoming players.  Last year, he said that he'd take McCoy over Suh (The Defensive ROY).

Don't think you can go wrong with Jones or Green.  I think both are going to produce big in the pros.

I've got a sneaky feeling about Fannin catching on and slowly becoming a solid back.  He'll be one of those guys that people go, "How did Auburn screw the pooch with this guy?"

Yep.  Well, maybe except for Andre Ware.

I thought Peyton got hosed, too, but Woodson has proved himself to be almost as valuable.

I thought Desmond Howard was another crappy choice.  I didn't think much of Cappelletti, either.

I agree COMPLETELY.  The Drill after their 40, they ran by a tackling dummy then had to cut either left or right, it took Ingram three steps to make his cut.  The whole time I'm thinking, that's a tackle for loss, that's another, aaaand another.  Then Mayock defensively says..."look, I don't care how he looks here... blah, blah, blah."

Read the NFL.com breakdown on Fannin and youll see why he never really challenged to be the #r guy despite physical talent.  He lacks the things that are hardest or impossible to coach, in addition to fumbling and durability issues.  He wont ever be more than a 3rd down back, if that.

I know this is going to be in the NFL, but jeez how often did you see him get tackled for a loss? No gain, maybe, but for a loss? Rare.

Fannin can do all he wants, but when he gets on a roster and turns the ball over every other play, he'll be cut faster than you can blink.

edit* Arian Foster ran a 4.69 - I think he's done pretty well so far.

Couldn't find it, but it's way more than you think.  Rare?  PFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTT.  He got roly poly'd a lot for a yard or two loss.  Or more.

Here's something to consider, too.

All year long he had only seven carries of 20 yards or more.  NONE of those came in the second half.  Only two came when tied or trailing by seven points or less.   Five were first down runs, two were second down.  No long third or fourth down runs.

He only had one rush of 10 or more yards on third down all season.  One.

His totals this year broke out like this:  1st quarter: 349 yards, 2nd quarter: 238, 3rd Quarter: 199, 4th quarter 89.

I've never been impressed with Ingram at all.  Not about to start now.   I just don't think he's that good.  I think there were half a dozen backs or more as good or better than him in 2009 and if I were drafting he'd be a second day pick.

If I'm ranking the top 50 RBs in the history of the SEC, he's probably not on the list.  I haven't thought that far in my head yet, but without trying I can think of a dozen or more that he'd be lucky to carry water for:  Bo, Herschel, Emmitt, Fullwood, Musso, Faulk, Billy Cannon, Carnell, Ronnie, Rhett, McFadden, Alexander, Hilliard, Garrison Hearst, the Henry kid at UT,  Lewis at UT....

He's just not that good.  An average back on a good team.  That's all.

While I mostly agree, I think he may be slightly better than average, and could be good in the right system, but he aint gonna carry a team.

Three years from now?  The only people who will remember him are the fat asses who wonder if they can squeeze their moobs into their musty #22 jersey so they can sit in their truck and listen to Eli Gold stuff his face with turkey legs while he bumbles through a game.  And since it's Eli?  They'll never have any fucking idea what the score is.

Arian Foster ran a 4.56 at 226lbs...not a 4.69.

http://www.mattrauch.com/2009-nfl-combine-results.php

Toby Gerhart (The Real 2009 Heisman Winner) ran a 4.53 at 231lbs.

Ben Tate (The Best RB of Alabama in '09) ran a 4.43 at 220lbs.

http://cfn.scout.com/2/950679.html

Also....Cam Newton told Ingram that he should hand over his Heisman to Gerhart.  He told him that after he ran his second 40 of 4.58 at 248lbs.

And before you Updykes say that Ingram had the greatest 10 yard split ever with his timed 1.53.  He's glad that last year's RBs aren't in this year's Draft.

10 Yard Splits from last year's RBS...
1) Jahvid Best -1.48
2) C.J. Spiller -1.48
3) Ben Tate -1.49 (Best RB in Alabama...He also never fucking quit on his team.  Heismans don't fake injuries)
4) Ryan Mathews -1.49
5) Montario Hardesty -1.51

I guess maybe he is.  Emmitt was crying like a bitch on the sidelines after Auburn punked his team, too.
