TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- When Drew Clayton decided to propose to his girlfriend back in May, he stuck to a simple mantra: Go big or go home.

Clayton, a Mississippi State alum, knew he wanted to do something special to surprise his now-fiancée, Decatur native Kayla Posey, who was finishing up graduate school at the University of Alabama.

After working with a fraternity brother to design her engagement ring, Clayton turned to another friend, an Alabama grad, to brainstorm the perfect proposal.

In the end, only one place in the world made sense for Clayton to ask the most important question of his life.

Luckily, Posey had a few connections, having worked in the Alabama Football office for years while in school and eventually working her way up to being one of Saban's student assistants.

Posey's co-workers helped orchestrate everything, including sending her to lunch the day of the proposal so Clayton could set up in Saban's office (unfortunately, he was out of town).

He swapped out the 2012 BCS National Championship ring on Saban's coffee table with Kayla's custom-made diamond and then retreated to the only place in the office where a man could reasonably hide.

"For 30 minutes, my stomach is churning and I'm waiting on Kayla to get back," he said. "It was a very well-kept bathroom, as we would expect from such a perfect coach."

He also took a peek at Saban's snack stash, which included several boxes of Oatmeal Creme Pies.

"I was kind of hungry, so I figured he wouldn't miss one," he said.

Minutes later, Kayla pulled into the parking lot. It was showtime.

"One of my main jobs was giving tours of the athletic facility," Posey said. "I had four tours that day, so I was all dressed up, and my co-workers told me another tour had been added at the last minute."

Posey's co-workers convinced her that a "very important" guest was coming in for a visit and that she needed to shine the rings in Saban's office as soon as possible.

"When I got into the office, one of the national championship boxes was closed," she said. "I started cleaning it with my dress and I opened the box."

"I looked at it for a second, and I thought, 'That's my ring.'"

Clayton emerged from the bathroom, dropped to one knee and asked Posey to be his wife.

The staffers in charge of filming practice had planted a hidden camera beforehand to capture the entire thing.

"I know she loves Alabama and loved working in that office," Clayton said. "It was her place, so I knew she would never expect me to be there."

Posey said once she got over her shock, she was overwhelmed by everything Clayton and her co-workers did to pull off "one of the greatest days of her life."

"I was never the kind of guy that wanted to 'go to dinner and go on a walk and then pop the question,'" Clayton said. "I wanted something that was very cool, and something we could always remember."

I went to school with this guy.  He was a grade or two behind.  He came from a low income family and always seemed a bit off.  I guess having the name Victor Dingler would make anyone a little weird.  Either way, there is no excuse for someone to do such a thing.  Sadly on a related story.  I came home yesterday and my wife was watching Dr. Phil.  They were talking about the owner of "Red Jacket" the tv show "Sons of Guns" was arrested for molesting his daughter, and now four or five more girls have come out with alligations against him.

An Etowah County man has been charged with first degree sexual abuse as a result of a federal child pornography investigation.

Victor Gray Dingler, 33, was arrested on September 9, 2014 in Etowah County. He is the suspect named in a seven-page criminal complaint filed by an agent with Homeland Security.

The complaint alleges that on three separate occasioins between 2011 and 2012, Dingler took photos himself engaging in sexual contact with a young girl who was between the ages of 4 and 6 years old at the time.

The affadavit says in total, Dingler took 29 pictures of the child, and then sent the photos to someone online.

The complaint states that in March 2013, the Homeland Security Investigations office in Birmingham received the images of child pornography from a website found by the Danish National Police. A University of Alabama blanket could be seen in one of the images.  The blanket helped lead investigators to the suspect, Victor Gray Dingler.

The Alabama Department of Education called HSI in Birmingham on September 8, 2014 to say they believed they may have located the female victim, an Etowah County girl who is now 7 years old.

Investigators interviewed the 7-year-old victim, who told them she was the child in the photographs and identified Victor Dingler as the man in the photos. She also identified Dingler as the person who took the photographs.

Law enforcement officials interviewed the victim's mother, who also identified the man in the photographs as Victor Dingler.

The mother and the victim both identified the wood paneling shown in the background of the images and said they were taken at Dingler's former home in Etowah County.

Law enforcement learned that Dingler was currently living at a different home in Glencoe.

Officers went to Dingler's current home on September 8, 2014 and spoke with a woman who was there. She is the mother of a 3-year-old girl who is also cited in court documents as a victim.

The 3-year-old's mother also identified the man in the pornographic images as Victor Dingler and said the images were taken at his former home.

With the help of the 3-year-old's mother, authorities were able to arrest Dingler in Etowah County.

Law enforcement officers interviewed Dingler at 1:40 a.m. on September 9.

According to the criminal complaint, Dingler admitted to engaging in illegal sexual activity with the 7-year-old girl and the 3-year-old child, producing child pornography involving both victims, and distributing child pornography involving the 7-year-old child.

The complaint states Dingler also admitted he was the man in the pornographic images, and identified 29 images he had taken.

Court documents say Dingler said he distributed the images of the 7-year-old through Yahoo Messenger to another Yahoo subscribed sometime in summer or fall 2012.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Less than month since Uber launched its ride-share service in Tuscaloosa, police have charged one driver with possession of marijuana and issued several citations to other drivers for violating the city's taxicab ordinance.

Tuscaloosa police charged an Uber driver last week with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also issued the driver, Brandon Devante Oliver, 21, of Tuscaloosa, citations for driving on a suspended license, violation of the open beverage law, not having a tag light, operating a vehicle for hire without a business license, not having a chauffeur permit, and operating a vehicle for hire without proper insurance.

The arrest was part of an undercover operation by the Tuscaloosa Police Department, which released a statement earlier this month saying that, according to the city's taxicab ordinance, "all drivers and companies that are involved in a taxi service or ride sharing program" must have a business license, a chauffeur license, a background check and vehicle inspection.

An undercover officer who used the Uber mobile app service rode with Oliver and said he smelled marijuana in the vehicle, according to a news release.

Officers later stopped the driver and said they found "a bottle of vodka that the driver had been mixing with a drink while driving and almost one-fourth pound of marijuana with baggies for distribution."

Oliver and the passenger at the time were arrested. The passenger, Wykey Montez Guyton, 21, of Tuscaloosa, was also charged with possession of marijuana.

During the undercover operation, officers rode with eight different Uber drivers and issued several other citations.

A 50-year-old female driver from Columbus, Miss., was given a warning citation and then picked up another officer less than an hour later, according to the news release.

She was issued city citations for operating a vehicle for hire without a business license, not having a vehicle for hire inspection, not having a chauffeur permit, and operating a vehicle for hire without proper insurance.

Six other drivers were all issued warnings citations for operating a vehicle for hire without a business license, not having a vehicle for hire inspection, not having a chauffeur permit, and operating a vehicle for hire without proper insurance.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department said it will continue to do these operations until the drivers comply with the city requirements for taxi services.

"We have been very lenient in the recent weeks making sure that everyone was aware of the requirements," the news release reads. "In future operations officers will not be issuing warning citations and will be issuing criminal city citations to drivers who do not comply with city regulations."

(Reuters) - Three U.S. senators on Wednesday called for the resignation of a federal judge accused of beating his wife in an Atlanta hotel room last month.

Senators Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions, both Republicans of Alabama, joined Senator Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat, in calling for the resignation of Alabama-based U.S. District Court Judge Mark Fuller.

“Judge Fuller’s unacceptable personal conduct violates the trust that has been placed in him. He can no longer effectively serve in his position and should step down,” Sessions said in a statement.

The calls for Fuller's resignation come amid a furor over the National Football League's treatment of players accused or convicted of domestic violence, which critics say has been too lenient.

Alabama U.S. Representative Terri Sewell, Democrat of Alabama, called for Fuller's resignation last week.

Earlier this month, Fuller, 55, resolved a misdemeanor charge of battery stemming from the incident with his wife by agreeing to attend a six-month domestic violence program and to submit to a substance abuse assessment.

Barry Ragsdale, an attorney for Fuller, did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.

A 2002 appointee of former President George W. Bush, Fuller is facing an administrative complaint and was stripped of his docket by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals following the incident.

In a statement after resolving his criminal case, Fuller said he hoped to resume work.

SYLACAUGA, Alabama -- Sylacauga Police have arrested two people - one a juvenile - in connection with a robbery and kidnapping.

Police Chief Chris Carden said the arrests stem from an incident that happened about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police received an alarm call at the Brown Bag Convenience Store at the intersection of Main Avenue and Alabama 21.

A clerk in the store told police he had closed up earlier and driven home a few blocks away, only to be confronted by two masked men, one with a pistol. They forced him at gunpoint to return to the store and open it so they could commit a robbery. The men then fled on foot, leaving the clerk behind.

Carden said the two were later arrested on North Louisville Street. Jacorrie Antoine Staples, 20, and a juvenile, were taken into custody at 11:40 p.m. Both are being held in the Talladega County Jail without bond. They have been charged with first degree robbery and first degree kidnapping.

"The quick thinking on behalf of the victim, coupled with the quick and thorough response from patrol officers, made this case," Carden said in a news release. "I am extremely proud of this group of officers. They did an outstanding job."

Tuscaloosa cops say the’ve arrested three suspects in the October 2013 Roll Tide Shotgun Armed Robbery of the Alabama One Credit Union. All three subjects have been indicted on first degree armed robbery charges.

Cadrious Dashun Batts, 25 years old, of Tuscaloosa was charged with 1 Count of Robbery 1st Degree.  Joseph Matthew Burleson, 19 years old, was charged with 1 count of Robbery 1st Degree.  Tashona Patrice Morrow, 39 years old, of Tuscaloosa was charged with 1 Count of Robbery 1st Degree.
A little research on Tashona reveals that she received a “barbering” degree in 2005 from Shelton State. She’s definitely a Bama fan. Annnnnnd….cops say she drove the getaway car after the two punks rolled into the bank for the holdup.

Investigators opened an internal investigation following a traffic stop on Lebanon Road. Officer Jonathan "Drew" Jackson allegedly pulled a woman over for expired tags.

"You told the captain that you stopped her because her tags were expired, but her tags were not expired," wrote city leaders in a termination letter dated Aug. 21.

What happened next remains a mystery. Video obtained by Channel 4 shows Jackson shut off his cruiser dash camera and microphone before the woman left the scene, which is a clear violation of department policy, according to Chief James Hambrick.

"Cameras are there to help us in cases like these," Hambrick said. "Often times, people can make accusations on an officer that such and such happened."

The interaction between Jackson and the female driver led her and her boyfriend to file a complaint with the Mt. Juliet Police Department that same night. Their child was sitting in the backseat during the traffic stop.

"It made me uncomfortable, it made her uncomfortable, it made my child uncomfortable," Tony Cunningham said.

When Jackson discovered the woman was driving on a suspended license, he let her go.

"That's another thing we don't do," Hambrick said. "That's a state violation."

Jackson also gave the woman his personal cell phone number, which is another violation of department policy.

Hambrick said officers are told to give out their work numbers instead.

In letter appealing his termination, Jackson confirmed the allegations: "I know that I was in the wrong for violation of policies with the police department. I know that I should not have giving my number to this lady nor should I have contacted her outside of work. I let my love for children get in the way of my daily duties as a Mt. Juliet Police officer. I chose to give the lady a break on the suspended license due to the fact that she was a single parent and more than likely could not afford the citation."

Just hours later, the woman heard from Jackson again, according to Facebook messages obtained by Channel 4. Jackson contacted the woman at least four times that evening - he also messaged her again after his termination.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told Channel 4 she and Cunningham had never met Jackson before the traffic stop. But the same thread shows Jackson had reached out to the female before in February 2012. The woman never responded.

Cunningham said his girlfriend became more uncomfortable when Jackson contacted her after he was terminated, but Jackson tried to explain himself in a Facebook message.

"By no means at all was I hitting on you or wanting anything, just trying to give a ‘single' mom a break," Jackson wrote.

Cunningham admits his girlfriend should not have been driving on a suspended license, but he said he feels the interaction spiraled out of control.

"She was in the wrong," Cunningham said. "But two wrongs don't make a right."

Jackson's termination letter addresses the several violations.

"Drew, this is not only a policy violation turning your camera off, but using your authority as a police officer for your own personal intentions is an unacceptable behavior that will not be tolerated," wrote Hambrick and Janet Southards, the human resources manager for the city of Mt. Juliet.

Hambrick made the decision to fire Jackson just four days after the traffic stop.

"That type of conduct is not what we condone," he said.

Jackson had worked for the department for approximately four months when he was fired. He had previously worked as a school resource officer in Williamson County, according to officials with the Williamson County Sheriff's Department.

Jackson declined to comment for this story.
