Well, we got rid of our satellite provider (DirecTV). And we aren't getting Charter or anyone else.
$90/month per year adds up to about $1080 a year.
We can watch many of the shows we like on the internet in HD. If I use my PS3 for the internet, I can watch my shows on my big screen in HD for free.
I only worry about football season, but I figure we can use some of our extra money to go to more Auburn games. We would also go to bars/friends' houses to watch any games we don't attend. I think ESPN3.com airs a few games in HD as well.
Also, I feel like way too many people watch way too much TV. It's sad that I almost teared up when I cancelled our service. TV has been a daily part of my life since the day I was born. Something seems wrong about that.
Something also seems wrong about me watching on average 2-3 hours of TV per day. Every work day I watch Around the Horn and PTI from 4-5pm. Then I usually watch two or three shows (House, Modern Family, American Idol, The Cooking Channel, House Hunters, sports, etc) per night which equals about 1-2 more hours per night.
Hopefully this will entice more exercise, family time, and creativity.
