that's because Katrina was intensified by sub oceanic nuclear testing in the Gulf , not a weather machine.  When Katrina did not do enough damage to NOLA, the testing resumed and created the oil spill.

I could tell you what is on tap for next summer, but I wont.

They had almost a whole week to evacuate New Orleans.  All my friends got the hell out of dodge at least 48 hrs prior to landfall.  A total evacuation was entirely possible had it been handled correctly and the folks had followed instructions.

Looting stores and tipping the very buses coming to help them was apparently a more efficient use of time.
