I had Dish in probably 95 or 96. It was horrible. Constant trouble getting the two satellites aligned. Friend had Dish in about 2007. Every time we tried to watch a movie or game at his house he'd have to adjust the satellite signal because one or more had gotten out of sync. Missed a lot. Got to the point we'd only watch shit at my house because he couldn't rely on Dish.

I've had both too. Direct is much better. I've only lost service once and that was because of a kick ass storm.

Agree. I've had Direct for about 6 years now. Very few issues and they tend to give you free shit and bill credits if you complain enough about the little things that do happen seldomly. I took a vacation up to the NC Mountains last year and the cabin owner had DISH, so I was able to compare. Not even close. I hated DISH so bad that I literally quit looking for shit to watch. The interface and guide were horrible, and worst of all - channels I was used to getting on Direct were considered Premium on DISH. No thanks.

I had both as well. I had Dish when I moved into the house I bought in Birmingham about 5 years ago. Couldn't fucking stand it. Got out of my contract to go to DirecTV after only a couple of months.

Much better.

I have U-verse now, and I like it as much or better than DirecTV.

I have Dish and have no complaints. No signal loss unless it is one hell of a storm, better luck out of the Hardware (I had to replace two DVR's and lose all my shit with Direct) and can complain a little on stuff and they fix my bill right away.

So I finally sat down and watched the last half of Season 2 of "Teh Walking Dead" with my Dad (who is a big fan of the show) last week and I have decided that I could have done completely without the first half of the season (with the exception of the characters finding zombie-Sophia and shooting her in the head which could have been accomplished in the first five minutes of the first episode of Season 2).

There was significantly less estrogen-laced, interpersonal drama which is how it should have been all along (with the exception of one episode where there was way too much proverbial hand-wringing in an attempt to suss-out what to do with a certain individual that had been bought to the farm...my opinion, he never should have been bought to the farm in the first place...there's no time for "compassion" in teh zombie apocalypse apart from a bullet in the head).

I might be inclined to keep watching the show however as I'm sure has been alluded to earlier in this thread Dish Network has dropped AMC; and, besides, there are much, much better shows in the premium world that is HBO, Showtime, and Skinamax.

Anyway, I'd comment on the characters who stayed and who left but I don't want to post any spoilers.

I would have liked to have seen the reprehensible and loathsome Lori get gnawed on by the two zombies that attacked her car after her ridiculous, uber-dramatic exit from the farm in an attempt to find Rick...I was rooting for the zombies! She must go in only the most horrible way possible.

I assume you're referring to Andy Griffith; the answer is no; I'm still wearing black. The flag at my home is in a lowered condition and they are still at half-staff in Mt. Airy and Dare County. I had something in my eyes too, they got a little misty, must've been an allergy or something...that's all I'll say on the subject.

I was in Downtown San Antonio last week when I saw it come across the twatter as I was walking up Commerce Street that morning. My stomach dropped. I was about to enter a German deli to eat breakfast. The eggs just didn't taste the same after the bad news.

I know that feeling. I heard it on the radio while on my way to NC last week...I got a little something in my eyes for a minute or three. Later some program I was listening to played Andy Griffith's comedy routine from 1953 called "What it was...was football" and that cheered me up in hearing him talk about "those men were a-fightin' over that little punkin'" and "just as soon as one of 'em would go down they'd carry him oft and run another one on!" His reference to the calling the striped-shirt officials "convicts" makes me bellow with laughter every time I hear it. But that whole bit is hilarious.

He's doesn't say where he is in the monologue but it's Kenan Stadium at UNC...at least the old one anyway.
