Y'all are treating this like one of your cheezy porn movies - fuck the plot, gimme a money shot/zombie rampage.  That's fine for porn.  But this is not porn - so character development is a good thing.

Y'all are too short sighted.  Not to mention shallow as Terapin Creek.  The writers know where this is going, and if you read the graphic novels on which this is based, you can get a good idea.  And it rocks.

Merle is gonna come back for realz - bank on it.  Daryl is gonna have to choose.  And the farm is gonna be in the distance pretty soon.  The point is to create a false sense of security and "normalness" but Shane blowing up the zombies in the barn is the first step towards shattering that illusion.  The two Philly guys are the next nail in the "so much for normalcy" coffin.  If you saw the preview for next week, those bad guys have friends, and they had to come from somewhere...

And yeah, Shane saves Lori - that was on the website.  That will either create the rift between Lori and Rick that someone said it might, or it will send Shane deeper down the "Lori should be fine, to hell with Rick" thought pattern.  That's what I think will happen, because that is how the original story tracks.  If so, awesome.

I read some reviews from people who have seen the next 5 episodes and they said they were amazing... and these were internet nerds that hate everything.  Amazing in the way that both Garman, Tarheel, and TW will like.  I can't wait.

I was talking with a friend today - the Philly guy had it right when he told Rick that the rules before don't apply anymore - there's a new order, and the rules for society have changed.  I think the plot arc for nearly every character gets much MUCH darker in scary places going forward.   People that can adapt will survive.  Those that can't wind up zombie food, or fodder for guys like the Philly boys.  Hence Rick's ditching the sheriff shirt and hat.  There is no rule of law anymore, and he is adapting - unwillingly, but he is adapting.  The last round between the fat guy's eyes proved that.

If the writers keep this up, they're only going to find a dwindling audience of shallow-assed broads remaining.  Perhaps, they'll be able to move it to daytime TV in between the rest of your stories.

For example, in a favorite zombie-movie of mine, "Shaun of the Dead", the characters were developed from the start and the relational drama (such that it was) was tongue-in-cheek at least and had a sense of ironic humor in spite of the shitakeakety situation...and it didn't take 14 hours of viewing time to get to the denouement which, by the way, does not take a drama major or Rhodes scholar to realize involves rising action at some point.

I've been hearing on teh ebays that same Siren-cry of "just wait...it gets better" from day one...still waiting.  Hope it does...but we'll have to continue to watch Scheherazade's proverbial dance of the walkers to find out won't we?

The writers have been on these weepy, emotional tangents since the start of the season.  Good film and tv media writers already have characters developed and plot-lines that are tantalizing without one having to "read" the graphic novellas.

But, weepy, emotional tangents make good soap operas, and graphic novels are just comic books.  I said it...

Shaun of the Dead...  Really?  Try virtually any other apocalyptic thriller.  These writers have merely bought into the relationships and emotions trend of lamestream prime time television for the sole reason of appealing to a broader audience.  The fact is, they're losing a lot of us along the way.  Us being those who tend to be more rational, logical and intelligent than the feelings and emotions crowd.
