TUSCALOOSA -- An SUV driven by Oakland Raider rookie linebacker Rolando McClain was the target of a shooting Thursday night in Decatur, his hometown. McClain, who started at Alabama from 2007-09, called the Decatur Police Department on Thursday night, 20 minutes after officers had were dispatched to investigate a potential gunshot victim at Second Street S.W. and Memorial Drive in Decatur.Officers arrived at the scene, but could not locate a shooting victim according to a press release. McClain told police he was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe on Second Street S.W. where a group of people were standing on the corner of Second Street S.W. and started shooting, according to the release. No bullets penetrated the passenger compartment, but officers retrieved one bullet that struck near the rear hatch of SUV. Detectives interviewed passengers, who were with McClain at the time of the shooting. No additional information was immediately available, according to a Decatur Police Department spokesman. McClain just finished his rookie season with the Raiders with 85 tackles and an interception.McClain was the target of a lawsuit in November and is being sued for allegedly hitting a University of Alabama student with his car in 2008.Anyone with information concerning this case, can contact the Decatur PoliceDepartment at (256) 341- 4660.
