Marlin Lane and Clemson cut ties

Sometimes the recruiting game is like a game of chicken. That's the case here with Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland standout running back Marlin Lane. He has been a long time Clemson commit and the Tigers coaches told him that if he didn't show up for his official visit this weekend to Clemson and took a visit elsewhere, that his scholarship would be pulled. That's exactly what happened and it doesn't make Lane happy whatsoever.

"I am very disappointed at how this turned out," Lane said. "I trusted [coach Dabo Swinney] and I thought he trusted me. He knew when I committed that I wanted to see some other places and take some trips. I guess he feels like he can't trust me. I love Clemson and have a Clemson tattoo. I guess it's time to move on."

There have obviously been some changes at Clemson that had a direct recruiting affect on Lane. Swinney dismissed a few coaches that were very important to Lane in offensive coordinator Billy Napier and running backs coach Andre Powell. Plus, his primary recruiter, defensive line coach Chris Rumph, left for Alabama. For a while, there was very little contact between the two camps and it worried Lane.

Auburn doesn't need a Marlin Lane....there is a reason why he and his Tattoo are no longer together, bad apple.  I'd like to see him go to SPuat.

What's wrong with the guy?  Have never heard of him so I'm asking. If there have been all these coaching changes since he verbaled, I can understand some apprehension.  However, on the face of the article, it looks like he was firm in his commit, just wanted to see the world for free.  If Clemson got pissed because he's taking other visits, isn't that the same thing we ripped Lord Saybinz for doing to recruits?

He's a good RB, he just likes to have run ins with the Law.  And he kicks kittens.
