These daily Duck/ Auburn stories are starting to remind me of the Kyron Horman case. Nothing new to report but a new story every day anyway.

Auburn players getting a four day break followed by a journalistic guess that the coach didn't does not deserve to be a highlighted story. It shouldn't even have made it past the editors desk.

Go Ducks, WIN THE DAY.

If you want a story start digging into why the Cam Newton scandal was treated differently than all previous NCAA money scandals and why Ohio State players get to be in their bowl game. That said I'm glad Cam is playing. I'd rather beat Auburn at full strength. I just want to see the sanctions and his Heisman taken away after the game.

It's different because no money was exchanged, and the discussion of exchanging money took place at Mississippi State, NOT Auburn. It's amazing how those two very important details have all but been glazed over when biased fans want to bash Newton and the NCAA's decision about this case.

and you know this how?...you also prob feel Cam knew nothing about what his dad was doing...oh the irony, Cecil being a preacher, now that is something people should be talking about...preaching one thing and doing another.

I am glad that it is a proven fact that there was no money exchanged.......no, that sir is an opinion.
The NCAA already stated that Cam's father was guilty of trying to sell his son's committment. That is plain and simply against NCAA guidelines. However, suspending Cam for this game or declaring him ineligible would be a huge blow to the NCAA's bottom line.

And it isn't just biased fans, it is more or less, the whole country.

It is a proven fact as far as the NCAA investigation is concerned. Auburn learned of these allegations a year ago, and has been cooperating with the NCAA's investigation since. The freaking FBI was involved, and no wrongdoing was uncovered. Financial records were turned over back in the summer. Do you really think that if they had uncovered damning evidence that Newton's father had received pay-for-play that they just wouldn't do anything about it?

Per the investigation, Cecil Newton is guilty of discussing payment for his son to play at Mississippi State. The investigation concluded that no money exchanged hands and that even these types of discussions did not take place at Auburn. Everything else is speculation driven by a bloodlust to bring down a successful player on a successful team in the most successful conference since the BCS's inception.

It may have taken some shady underhandedness for Mississippi State to land Newton's signature. Auburn's tradition, proximity to Atlanta, and most importantly the supporting cast (not the least of which being an extremely talented all-Senior veteran offensive line) was enough.

Also, as for the "loophole" that is discussed in that article.

What loophole? That a father can discuss money with a school as long as no money changes hands? That's such a moot point to freak out about. The second the father is successful in exchanging money (or anything else for that matter) for his son's signature, it is clearly a violation. Articles like this are trying to imply that a father can now shop his son around to the highest bidder. Again, the second the "highest bidder" delivers, the rules have been violated. That did not happen in the Newton case.

you are clueless...while all/most Auburn fans think that all Cecil did was listen to the "agent/contact" only, the fact the NCAA said Cecil tried to illicit money means that he actively shopped Cam, not just listened...why else would Auburn suspend Cam for a day and then have the NCAA re-instate him the following day...if Cecil just listened and didnt participate, then there would have been no suspension by Auburn period!...prob no serious investigation either...by most Auburn fans argument, all a parent would have to do is get a phone call from a agent or whoever and if they mention money at all, then they would be as guilty as Cam is right now and would deserve a suspension by their school whether they participated or not....ridiculous.

Quote
You, sir, are clueless.

You're quick to throw out the "How do you know this", when I say no money exchanged hands which is the NCAA's official ruling, yet you're free to speculate as to what "illiciting money" means.

He did not illicit money at Auburn. The Auburn compliance office had determined this. The NCAA has determined this. Your, and most of America's, selective listening does not preclude this.

Do you have a tape of the alleged exchange between Cecil Newton and the MSU booster? If you do, I'm sure the NCAA would love to have it. But apparently, you know for a fact that Cecil Newton was the one that aggressively "shopped his son around". If he had "shopped his son around", he would have gone to the highest bidder and accepted their payment. The NCAA determined that that is NOT what happened. But I'm sure your investigation was more thorough than the NCAA's...

Funny how the MSU booster changed his story multiple times about whether he had ever had any conversations with Mr. Newton, or the other booster involved. Let alone his questionably corrupt past. Yet somehow, his word is the Gospel in all of this.

Same type of shit I encountered with South Carolina fans during the SECCG weekend. Except, I honestly think the Cocks I talked to were far less informed and even more delusional than this tool.  People believe what they want and I really think most fans want to see other schools get hammered. They don't want to see a juicy story get squashed, especially when it involves the #1 team and player in the nation.

When the Reggie Bush story started breaking, all I wanted to see was fairness on the NCAA's part.  IF...if it was true, I wanted to see them get equal treatment to that given to Bammer.  The accusations were just as sensational as the Means case so if proven, they should have the hammer come down.  It did.  In the Newton case, not a soul outside the AU family cares anything about the facts, as Chad pointed out.  Everyone bases their take on what "must have" happened or what they're sure happened and just ignore the investigations carried out by at least 4 different entities.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

The guy tried getting money from a college for his sons services, who cares what college, it's wrong! The NCAA says this is OK though "as long as the athlete knows knoting about it"...serious!...it's a joke and everyone seems to know this except you and the ignorant hicks in Alabama who are blind to everything except the arrogant SEC!

Just trying to do my part to educate. Notice how I effortlessly looked like I myself caught the misuse of solicit/illicit. :)

That was a pretty racist comment you just made, but I guess only us "ignorant hicks in Alabama" are capable of such.

If I would have known we were going to play to stereotypes, I would have made fun of WardenRankin for misusing the word "illicit" since it's probably the favorite word of several strung out hippies from Eugene, but instead I just used it incorrectly back at him.

Learn proper capitalization and punctuation, and God forbid, how to spell the word "nothing" before condemning others as ignorant.

As for the actual substance of your "ignorant" post...who cares what college? If in fact he tried getting money from Mississippi State, and didn't get any and then went to Auburn asking for money (which he didn't do, according to the NCAA), and didn't get any, then where is the violation?

If anything it is with Mississippi State, and therefore, Cam would be ineligible to play there.

I don't blame you for being college football ignorant. It's not your thing up there. But do yourself a favor and look up the Albert Means case. He was found guilty of accepting improper benefits at Alabama, and he was only ruled ineligible to play there. He transferred to Memphis where he was completely eligible and allowed to play out his career.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."

Just read your comments, J.

These people's lack of knowledge and logic and acceptance of facts is astounding.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."
